Well CNN is not a channel I miss at all. Dish now and again gets into a negotiation with a network and fails to get an agreement before expiration of the existing contract.

Usually takes a week or so before they get it straightened out and then the channel is back on.

They all make you sign a two year contract. Just remember if you try to opt out of it early there’s a stiff penalty. My mother found this out by mistake, has to pay about $240.00.

Nothing on TV. I now go with pure Internet. If I wanna watch some HGTV I just go on my XBMC and watch a few episodes free. Netflix and Hulu for 8 bucks a piece and my ATT Uverse for $41 a month vs $114 for basic HD DirecTV.

While we’re on the subject. I get broadcast TV and streaming internet with Roku…but no cable or dish. Is there any way I can watch SEC football when it is not being broadcast on a major network (which is often for my team - Auburn)? I am willing to pay a reasonable fee if I have to.

I really hate just watching that little simulated football field while listening to streaming audio.

Nope! How about NOT paying for TV? Dumped DirecTV three plus years ago, best decision we ever made.

Our TV consists of a $15 home made HDTV Antenna (made using coat hangers, some wire, and following a Video on YouTube) to pull in some 62 HDTV stations in the Chicago area, a Roku device and a NetFlix account for $8.

DirecTV was trying to charge me $100 for their "entry level" package, that's when I picked up the phone and told 'em to get their shit outta my house.

Tell Pay-TV to go to hell. You'll be amazed how much more FREE TIME you have for other, more important things like family, hobbies, recreation time, and oh yeah -- have some extra money in your pocket too!

I’ve been with DirecTv for 16 years. They have been good service provider IMO.

One of our sons has no antennae cable or dish. Subscribes to netflix, Hulu Plus and amazon. Less than half of what I pay direct.

Streaming and internet are the future and you can dart now if you check it out and like the options.

Relax, it’s temporary. Dish negotiates rough and isn’t afraid to make the other guy blink in order to get the best deal for its subscribers.

Losing TCM would be a dealbreaker for me. Though, having benefited from years of graduate education in film history (only in part from watching TCM, as an elective) I seriously doubt there's enough free time left in my own lifetime to watch all the quality content available by now by download.

Cutting the cable and bringing down the satellite dish wouldn't wet my eye none.

Gutenberg and Archive also have enough free content to fill the available free time in anyone's life time, wherein no single individual can read more than about 20,000 books.

I made an antenna and put it in a window facing the local broadcast stations and get a GREAT HD picture for NO monthly fees!

The local library system has a great collection of DVDs, and what they don't have, other systems in the state might just have, and borrowing those are all FREE! I've found some obscure movies this way, like the 1952 West German movie "Toxi" and many others.

Both DISH and DIRECT do this. It is their negotiation leverage with the networks. The channels will be back. I've had satellite TV since the days of Big 10' C-Band systems. I've also had both Dish and Direct.

My choice is Direct which I use now. I've not had any issues with customer service and the last DISHNET system I had required 4 coax cables ran for two receivers due to a funky switching system from receivers to dish LNB. I also like DIRECTS programing choices better.
