The visit to mars was not made by early humans but by the species that made it to mars and failed but also made it to earth where they thrived.i
Although I don’t believe we went to Mars, because there is not even a mythology anywhere about that, I do believe that societies repeatedly go through cycles where they have sociological, technological, and cultural high points and then, for whatever reason, they then lose it all and become relatively primitive.
