No matter what you think of Pete Rose, you can't deny what an electric moment it was on September 11th, 1985, when Rose became baseball's all-time major league hit leader -- a record that still stands today.
And yet, the debate over whether his cardinal sin -- gambling on baseball -- should keep him out of the Hall of Fame for life remains as fierce as ever, as correspondent Lee Cowan explains in a profile of Rose, to be aired on CBS' "Sunday Morning" October 19...
Take our poll!
Do you feel Pete Rose should be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, or not?

Charlie Hustle should only be inducted into the HOF after he dies. He should not be allowed to give an induction speech.

Can anyone get the poll to work? I tried to view the results in two different browsers (Firefox and Explorer), and I can’t get them to come up.

Glad to see Pete Rose way ahead in this poll. He is still a baseball icon and should be in the Hall of Fame.

If Barry Bonds is eligible then so should Pete Rose.

To Pete’s credit, he became the “hit king” without steroids...unlike Bonds who should NEVER be allowed in because he cheated as a PLAYER.
Pete’s gambling was as a manager when he bet on the Reds.
Pete should be in the HOF for his baseball accomplishments as a PLAYER.
Pete should NOT be allowed back in baseball due to his betting as a manager.

I’d allow him in, with a big fat asterisk next to his name.
To: skeeter
Of course if you ban Bonds, you have to ban most of the best players from the last 25 years. Might go a long time with no inductees. MLB will never go for that.

Unless the league only bans those either proven or admitted to have juiced.
A might unfair to them but I can't see how they can honor anyone who is known to have cheated.

Admitting too a little gambling with insider info after 15 years of denials and then getting put in prison for tax evasion... who really got hurt? While we are at it... let’s go ahead and give Lance back his yellow jerseys. Everyone Lance was competing against was cheating too.

If Pete Rose is banned from baseball, then he should not be allowed in. One of the criteria of the Hall of Fame is that no player on the ineligible list is allowed in.

84% Yes - What Rose did after his playing career ended shouldn't take away from his achievements on the field
16% No - Do the crime, do the time. "Banned for life" means just that.

The Skechers shoe commercial he does flat out mocks the Hall of Fame. Good baseball player, total scumbag as a human being. He does not belong in the Hall.
