A cross-country runner in North Dakota carried an injured competitor across the finish line during a recent race, a show of compassion that reflects the deeper meaning of sports.
The situation happened Saturday at the Eastern Dakota Conference’s Cross County Championship. Fargo South runner Danielle LeNoue was participating, nearing the finish, when she felt a pop in her knee. She crumpled to the ground in pain, an injury to her patella tendon.

After reading about all the crises of this world and our inept, corrupt government, it’s great to read a positive story for a change. Confirms my belief that, in spite of the evil and corruption in this country and elsewhere, there are still some good people left in the world. May God bless both runners.

It was a piggy-back carry.
And they are both high-school girls.
There was a jerk who tried to rape a young co-ed near NDSU Campus one evening and encountered some boys from a local frat house who made a "citizen's arrest." Nobody asked too many questions as to how the perp acquired broken bones and a reconfigured face while resisting arrest.
What made the incident even more strange is that the perp was some favored minority from a big east coast city attending on an athletic scholarship. He high tailed it out of the state as soon as he'd served his prison time.

I don’t understand why this is a good thing.
If I was injured, I wouldn’t want to impose on anyone else to take away from their personal achievement.
This is actually an example of equal-outcome training - the brainwashing is working even on FR.

I agree. It's no different than helping an injured player across the goal line or letting an injured player make an easy basket while you're guarding them. Sounds like a wonderful story, but is essentially a feel-good story designed to appeal to females.
In the 1970 NBA finals, the story went that Wilt Chamberlain took it easy on the injured Willis Reed. I don't know if it's true or not, but the previous game, which Reed missed, Chamberlain scored 45 pts. There's no way Reed, who could barely run, could have stopped Wilt from scoring at will. If true, it cost the Lakers the title. That's why you don't let up on an injured (or tired) competitor.
They were both way behind the pack anyway.
But our intentions were good.
That bothers me, too. It's like:
Men enlist in the military to fight and win wars. Women join the military to participate and feel wanted.
No wonder - for them winning is a bad thing.
