FULL TITLE: Girl held in hospital against her will for over a year during bitter custody battle is rushed to emergency room after being reunited with her parents

A 16-year-old girl who was held in a hospital at the center of a custody battle for 16 months has been rushed back to hospital with severe back pain.

Justina Pelletier was celebrating her birthday on Sunday with 100 friends and relatives when her condition worsened and her parents were forced to drive to Yale/New Haven Hospital to seek medical help.

She has only been home for four months after the state finally ruled her family was not abusing her.

The family spokesman Rev Patrick Mahoney wrote on Facebook: 'She is in severe pain and having serious GI issues. Please continue in prayer for Justina and the entire Pelletier family.'

Justina, who suffers from Mitochondrial Disease, was also admitted to hospital on September 27, he revealed, but they had thought it to be a false alarm.

She first checked in to Boston Children's Hospital in February 2013 with flu-like symptoms.

But the family became embroiled in a custody battle with the state when hospital staff insisted her genetic muscular condition was in fact a stress-related mental disease caused by domestic abuse.

She went 16 months without proper treatment. I just hope the State of Massachusetts and those evil doctors didn’t kill her.

I putting on my asbestos suit, and I truly feel sorry for this girl, and believe that the Mass CPS was negligent
but there is a small voice in the back of my head asking why this story is in the news now. How did the press find out? Is it OK for the parents to notify the press about her problems now that she's home? Shouldn't details go into the lawsuit not the news.

Sounds like polyneuropathy to me. Put her on Lyrica and she will improve in 2 to 3 weeks.

Apparently the family spokesman posted the story at Facebook, asking for prayers for Justina and her family. The story received so much publicity that the page at Facebook attracted a large number of followers. I believe the lawsuit ended with her return to her family.

It’s Boston Children’s. Mass General wasn’t involved at all on this mess.

Beware of pediatricians and pediatric hospital. Many are very left wing and consider your child to be government property.
