Week 6 of the college football season was not kind to the nation's best teams in the AP Top 25 poll -- five of the top eight squads in the country incurred their first losses of the year. Down went No. 2 Oregon, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 6 Texas A&M and No. 8 UCLA.
The losses provided the biggest rankings shakeup to date, with Ole Miss and Mississippi State joining the party inside the top five (both tied at No. 3) with victories over Alabama and Texas A&M, respectively.

I was so surprised he put Driskel back in. Treon was awesome and turned the game around for the Gators.
The Ole Miss / Texas A&M game next week is still a big game. The SEC West appears to be as close to a college football plyoff as we’re apt to get for a while.
Nothing surprises me with Muschamp.
Notre Dame and Baylor don't have cupcake schedules ahead of them, either, but if Auburn goes through that stretch undefeated it will be like 1983 (1984 bowls), when Auburn went through the season with only one loss, despite the fact that its opponents' average won-loss record was 8-3.
The only loss was to Texas, which also had only one loss (10-9 to Georgia in the Cotton Bowl, when David Ward missed four field goals of under 35 yards. That's also the game in which Georgia offensive lineman Guy McIntyre tackled a linebacker on the winning run. I can Google that for you, but of course, McIntyre admitted to reporters in the locker room after the game that he did so.).
Auburn played the toughest schedule in the nation that year, including eight bowl teams, seven of the Top 20, and four of the Top 10. Texas spanked Auburn 20-7 at Auburn's then-Cliff Hare (I believe) stadium.
Let's see last year. SEC - Two teams in the Final Four. ACC nada. They aren't even that good in basketball.
We bought Egg Bowl ( annual OleMiss / Mississippi State, last game of regular season ) tickets for our grand daughter and her boy friend, if this keeps I may have to keep them and get her something else.
Auburn ping!
We’re number#2! I do believe Clint predicted this (my) last night.
Hail State.
They still face a pretty stiff gauntlet.
Ole Miss, Miss St. A&M and Bama.
If they make it through that. They certainly deserve it.
Best of luck to y’all. I’ll be rooting for ya’. Saban really blew it last night. I just about blew a lung yelling at the TV.
It is a tough schedule ahead for all three of those teams. Ole Miss has been insanely after beating Bama, and they finally did it. I had a feeling it would happen this year. I don’t know if they will have the same passion for their games against Auburn and State though I am guessing they will be pumped up to beat State this year after losing four of the last five. I have not watched State play this year. We have listened to radio broadcasts of parts of the games. I tend to cheer for them when they are playing everybody except Bama. Auburn looked good yesterday when I was watching, but I did not watch for long. I think it will take Auburn making a lot of mistakes for either Mississippi team to beat them. But I can hope.
Bama has played sloppy during every game this year. They are lucky to be in the top ten at all. It was tough to see three Bama players go out with season ending injuries yesterday. I hate to see that for any players of any teams. :(
The SEC East is a whole other story. Arkansas, the “Worst” team, in the West, probably beats every team in the East.
Saban was all “wee weed up” for that game. The players played like it. They got beat. It was ugly. Ole Miss wanted it, and they won.
I don’t know about Arkansas being the worst. LSU looks pretty bad.
Yep, even the Gators might beat them this year.
Thank you, Rush, for your support. War Eagle!
Gator, our schedule is incredible. The teams from Mississippi are to be respected and feared. We’ll see if we have anyone uninjured come December. I never approach any game thinking it is a sure thing. I just hope we do well. Like we did against LSU. That felt very good.
WAAAARRRR EAGLE!!!
U have that exactly right; maybe not as Obama, but as Tom Watson. First three series on 3rd down without letting the boy toss the ball. Then feeding him to the wolves afterwards. Les didn’t go there to win, he went there to keep his ‘new’ QB from making ‘mistakes’. Bad decision. Big Loss. damit!
Notre Dame has played no one and squeaks by number 25...who was likely overrated
Gods team always gets the schmooze
Musberger was the worst
