Duke University porn star who once said “porn is empowering” tells the real heartbreaking story
The Young Conservatives ^ | 9/27/2014 | Joshua Riddle

Posted on 09/28/2014 2:54:44 PM PDT by Beave Meister

A student at Duke University started doing porn to pay for her tuition. She became a media sensation and liberals everywhere loved telling her story. She would do interviews and say things like porn is “empowering” and “freeing”.

She is in a documentary coming up and now that she has been in the industry for a little bit her view of porn has dramatically shifted.

“The sex industry has a way of making you very cynical and very bitter,” a tired-looking Weeks tells an off-camera interviewer, “In a way I’ve started to become kind of a bit bitter and a bit cynical.”

Why? “It teaches you to be street smart and not to trust people…I’m so used to being on the lookout for scammers, people who are going to try pimp me out or traffic me. I think my experiences have aged me. I don’t have the mind of an eighteen-year-old. I have the emotional baggage of someone much, much older than me.”

Why is every torn-up skank in the porn biz referred to as a “star”? She’s a nobody in real society.

It is not compassion to “spare the rod”.

Correction is what is needed in order to bring the sinner to repentance. The only way that is accomplished is to show the pattern to their choices and the consequences of those choices. Once the person sees the error of their ways, they can then be show the alternative choice, and in love, accept them back when they have changed their thinking and behaviour.

Without the light, there is only darkness.

I am around this girl’s age. I can tell you that, yes, young people make mistakes. Most of the mistakes my peers make are out of rebellious tendencies—not from ignorance. I am not judging her. I don’t know her. All I can tell you that the idea that youthfulness should be the excuse for stupidity is ludicrous. Yes, some people act the way they do because they are abused, raped, come from broken families, or whatever. Many, however, do it because they want to fit it or just don’t care what their parents think. My point was that young people are perfectly capable of coping with life’s realities if they aren’t coddled.

Not buying it. She knew what she was doing and in her story made no mention of any childhood sexual abuse.

Oh please.....that is such a canard.

We are damn well entitled to voice our opinion about an 18 year old girl whoring herself out on film

And treating it like yet another hear me roar harridan’s ode to womyn empowerment

Then less than a year later....slatterns remorse...duh....does anyone know of a happy no issues woman in porn?

Pity her or pray for her ....we don’t have to shut up about it unless we’re frigging purrfect

Silly platitudes like yours stripped out of context from the Bible epitomize whas wrong with us

Societal pressure used to keep young women from whoring about

Read the comments on the blog...they echo your sentiment

Dont be judgmental?

Hogwash.

Something “desensitized” her as a child to sex and destroyed her emotional innocence. I wonder if she can feel any intimacy towards her partner. No, it is not natural for a woman to want to have sex with many many partners with NO emotional attachment.

Blame the feminazi "sex positive" agenda. It seeks to "smash the patriarchy" and "smash monogamy". Planned Parenthood pushes it. NOW was behind it at their founding. They are the ones behind the "slut walks" who say that becoming a pornstar is "empowering".

It seeks to see everyone sexually active at every age. Abstinence is against their worldview.

Marxist Feminism’s Ruined Lives (Frontpagemag.com ^ | 9-2-2014 | Mallory Millett)

And so began my period as an unwitting witness to history. I stayed with Kate (Millett) and her lovable Japanese husband, Fumio, in a dilapidated loft on The Bowery as she finished her first book, a PhD thesis for Columbia University, “Sexual Politics.”

It was 1969. Kate invited me to join her for a gathering at the home of her friend, Lila Karp. They called the assemblage a “consciousness-raising-group,” a typical communist exercise, something practiced in Maoist China. We gathered at a large table as the chairperson opened the meeting with a back-and-forth recitation, like a Litany, a type of prayer done in Catholic Church. But now it was Marxism, the Church of the Left, mimicking religious practice:

“Why are we here today?” she asked.
“To make revolution,” they answered.
“What kind of revolution?” she replied.
“The Cultural Revolution,” they chanted.
“And how do we make Cultural Revolution?” she demanded.
“By destroying the American family!” they answered.
“How do we destroy the family?” she came back.
“By destroying the American Patriarch,” they cried exuberantly.
“And how do we destroy the American Patriarch?” she replied.
“By taking away his power!”
“How do we do that?”
“By destroying monogamy!” they shouted. “How can we destroy monogamy?”

Their answer left me dumbstruck, breathless, disbelieving my ears. Was I on planet earth? Who were these people?

“By promoting promiscuity, eroticism, prostitution and homosexuality!” they resounded.

They proceeded with a long discussion on how to advance these goals by establishing The National Organization of Women. It was clear they desired nothing less than the utter deconstruction of Western society. The upshot was that the only way to do this was “to invade every American institution. Every one must be permeated with ‘The Revolution’”: The media, the educational system, universities, high schools, K-12, school boards, etc.; then, the judiciary, the legislatures, the executive branches and even the library system.

It fell on my ears as a ludicrous scheme, as if they were a band of highly imaginative children planning a Brinks robbery; a lark trumped up on a snowy night amongst a group of spoiled brats over booze and hashish.

She says:

In many interviews, Weeks talks obsessively about how porn gives her control over her own sexual destiny: “In porn, everything is on my terms. I can say no whenever I want to. I am in control.”and

I can say definitively that I have never felt more empowered or happy doing anything else. In a world where women are so often robbed of their choice, I am completely in control of my sexuality. As a bisexual woman with many sexual quirks, I feel completely accepted. It is freeing, it is empowering, it is wonderful, it is how the world should be.”

She's lying to herself. She's said as much in other quotes...

Miriam herself admits that her first scene, shot for a company she refers to as “Facial Abuse,” was “a really, really rough scene. I wasn’t prepared for how rough it was. It was weird having some random photographer watch me have my a** kicked on camera.” She talks about getting literally torn up during porn shoots. She admits that porn shoots in which she was physically beaten up until she sobbed were probably shoots she should have refused. Yet she didn’t.

and

For one shoot, Miriam recalls almost tearfully, her agent wouldn’t tell her who she had to “work with.” When she arrived at the set, she realized he was fifty years old. She wanted to leave, but then she’d have to pay a 300 dollar “kill fee,” the director would have been furious, and, she says, she could never have worked for that company again. So she did it. “I felt like crying during the entire scene and afterwards I was really, really upset,”

Exactly.

Feminists praised the fact that women could finally be sexually free! Women were finally free to express themselves sexually!

What they didn’t consider was HOW MEN WOULD REACT AND TREAT TO THOSE SAME WOMEN.

After all, if a women acts a certain way, that way, then it is difficult for her to be valued for anything else but a sexual object.

Yup.

Rape is a REALLY bad thing for a woman. In order to cope, a woman will turn off the emotional side of herself (the higher level “thinking” part of her brain that allows her to form relationships and emotional bonds and make the right decisions) and then that makes her vulnerable to anything.

And yes, it is much like a “drug” that it takes more and more of it to achieve the same “high.” So it will start out small and end up in the extreme.

There is also a aspect of maturity that enters into the equation. That is why children and young adults are so vulnerable and must be protected.

So much for it being victimless

She's not a victim. She's a fool. There's a difference.

If somebody had kidnapped her and forced her to perform in porn, then I would consider her a victim. She went in with both eyes open, and now realizes she made a bad decision. Still, it was her choice.

Take a good look at her. An unattractive girl (with apparently a shapely body) did porn in order to get a worthless degree from an over-hyped school. Her real name and image are now all over the Internet, available to any future boyfriend.

What decent guy would want to marry her now?

who thought as you did , women like like Linda Lovelace, Juliet Andersen, Rene Bond and others. You know what became of them? They’re all dead

Andersen had Chrohn's disease and died at 71, Lovelace in a car accident. If you're trying to connect their deaths to porn, it didn't work.

She is a fool, but she is young, too, without the wisdom of maturity. She believed the leftist lie that women can have sex without harm of consequences.
