West Coast warming linked to naturally occurring changes

Naturally occurring changes in winds, not human-caused climate change, are responsible for most of the warming on land and in the sea along the West Coast of North America over the last century, a study has found.

The analysis challenges assumptions that the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has been a significant driver of the increase in temperatures observed over many decades in the ocean and along the coastline from Alaska to California.

Changes in ocean circulation as a result of weaker winds were the main cause of about 1 degree Fahrenheit of warming in the northeast Pacific Ocean and nearby coastal land between 1900 and 2012, according to the analysis of ocean and air temperatures over that time

The study, conducted by researchers from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the University of Washington, was published Monday by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

~natural variability~

I moved here in 1973 and our weather is the same now as it was then. Hot humid summers. Cool mild Fall, Winter, Spring. Snows about once every 15 years. Two hurricanes since 1973, neither one was bad at my house.

Just making a minor correction to prepare for the inevitable hysterics.

It would actually be more entertaining to attribute the study to something like “zoologically diverse elasmobranchs” since no media outlet will ever publish such a challenge to AGW. Thus nobody would ever notice.

Yeah, LAT reported it, but also sought a global warming expert to explain that the study was regional not global and that the study “does not call into question the concept of global warming.”

(*snort*)

Does John Heinz Kerry (who served in Vietnam) know this?

On Global Warming I quote:

We are shifting away from science and into the realm of religious fanaticism, where the followers of the creed, brimming with self-righteous fury, believe that they are in possession of a higher truth.

Like a religion, environmentalism is suffused with hatred for the material world and again, like religion, it requires devotion rather than intellectual rigor from its adherents.

It is intolerant of dissent; those who question the message of doom are regarded as heretics, or 'climate change deniers', to use green parlance.

And, just as in many religions, the route to personal salvation lies in the performance of superstitious rituals, such as changing a lightbulb or arranging for a tree to be planted after every plane journey.

Calfornia whose major city (LA) is constantly clogged by smog producing vehicles because they not developed a legitimate mass transit system the past 50 years...

The intended result of AGW proponents is a decrease in industrial output, standard of living, and human population of the earth.

These people worship destruction.

Although the coming extreme drop in temperature will be due to man-made causes — Hell will be freezing over now that the LAT has written an article discrediting Global Warming.

This is hogwash, pure Bravo Sierra.

Global Warming in California is so bad there are NO- not one- wild polar bears in all of California.

The ones in zoos swim in refrigerated water.

Slight modification- China, India and all of Africa are exempt from global warming controls, except that the Developed Nations owe them environmental reparations.

This will be used to justify making everyone else "act like" California as a model of regulatory sucess and make the rich liberals feel OK about their exorbitant lifestyles...
