National Review columnist Mark Steyn blasted claims by Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and others that the best strategy is to allow Obamacare to crumble under its own weight and only then seek to repeal it.
Filling in as host on Rush Limbaughs radio show Monday, Steyn, author of After America: Get Ready for Armageddon, explained to a caller named Joe that there is no reason to believe congressional Republicans have the will to repeal anything, especially considering that Carter-era institutions like the Department of Education and the Department of Energy have managed to flourish even in times of Republican-control.
[I] mean, Mitch McConnells line is now, Oh, just let Obamacare is going to be so self-evidently destructive that when we win our spectacular victory in the Senate election and the next presidential election, we will be able to repeal it and roll it back. When do the Republicans ever do that? Those Carter-era innovations like the entirely useless federal Department of Education, the federal Energy Department, even the National Endowment of the Arts when for decades it has been mocked for giving public monies to crucifixes floating in urine, homoerotic photography involving bullwhips attractively positioned

the point is they’re either a$$holes or a$$hole-adjacent.
Amen brother. The gop is dead. Only a fool would vote for a deadman. Vote for the best candidate regardless of party and live with a peaceful conscience.
ME TOO! I do donate to Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and a few others but NOT to the GOP
AMEN
I cannot remember the last time party “leaders” have even mentioned obamacare.
They had both houses and the white house under Bush. They did nothing then.
To be fair, the House did stop amnesty in its tracks. But I don’t think we have the same caliber of congressmen now.
I thought Mark Steyn no longer wrote for National Review.
Of course they’re not going to repeal it - anyone who thinks that is a boob. They (with a few exceptions)are salivating to get their hands into the multiple graft streams built into it.
has the government EVER repealed any program of this scope? EVER?
this isn’t a democrat or republican issue, it’s an issue of big government.
we will never see obamacare repealed. never happen.
ObamaCare sure has made medical treatments and even OV so much more expensive. And it doubled my son’s monthly premium, and his annual deduction, plus he has to pay for birth control pills, IUDs, abortions, maternity care, etc and he is a SINGLE MAN and it is a policy just for him
I just heard on Houston morning news via Fox News channel that come tax time April 2015 MANY people will find out they owe $600 to $2500 for ObamaCare. Will be taken from their tax refund to pay for their subsidies from the feds! Enjoy!
AMEN! I talked to Ron Paul several years ago and asked him “Do the politicians in DC KNOW they are doing things that will HURT this generation and our grandkids, and great grandkids?”
He said “They only care about POWER & CONTROL”
He was RIGHT. as ususal.
The GOPe loves Big Government just as much as the Democrats, and that’s why they are happy to lose elections to the Democrats.
i agree. the practitioners in big government will grab an issue that resonates (health care) and wrap more control around it, and then try to make it as palatable is they can in order to get it passed. once passed, they know that it will remain in place, despite all the repeal rhetoric (and that is all it is) that gets bandied about, use it to make their job of governing easier.
and easy government is the antithesis of freedom.

Their only principle is to have no principles.
Their only strategy is preemptive surrender.
Their only plan for victory is to tick off their base as much as possible.
