A uniformed Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper was asked to leave a Waffle House restaurant in Grapevine this week because he was armed. The trooper was wearing a Texas DPS helicopter pilot field uniform that consists of a DPS polo shirt, tan slacks and his badge and gun were on his belt. Trooper was asked to leave and not to return because he was wearing a gun.
The reaction against the manager and Waffle House on Facebook was predictably angry that a uniformed police officer would be thrown out of a restaurant.
CBS DFWs Bud Gillett reported that Waffle House said the manager simply missed seeing the badge on the troopers belt. They admitted it was inappropriate for him to chastise the trooper in front of other patrols. In a press release sent to CBS DFW, Waffle House spokesman Pat Warner said:
It is Waffle House policy to allow police officers to bring weapons into our restaurants. In this incident, the manager did not initially see the officers badge and should have handled the issue with more discretion. We apologize...
Evans posted on Facebook that the real issue to him was how the manager handled the situation by embarrassing him in front of other customers in the Waffle House. I could care less if the guy knew who I was or weather he recognized my uniform or not, Evans explained, it was the fact that he felt yelling at me from across the restaurant was an appropriate way of addressing his concerns.
Workers at the Waffle House told CBS DFW it was just a misunderstanding. They said they support police officers and even offer a police discount.

Right. I'm a former Army dude also and if you think the actions I take as a civilian will have the same outcome as a civilian cop, you had better retake basic training.
“In this incident, the manager....
... is clearly and astounding *sshole.”
Fixed.
Some animals are more equal than others. Some idiots have less brains than others.
I don’t know what personal issues you suffer from, but you sure are working hard to find someone to argue with, your desperation to find fault where none exists is pathetic.
“I personally find tattoos (especially on women) to be gross mutilation.”
You probably won’t like the Walmartian wimmins either. peopleofwalmart.com has lots of loathsome pictures of ‘em.
Once again my only question is whether you would walk out in support of someone wearing a gun who wasn’t a cop. It is not hard to say yes or no. It was merely a question not an argument. You chose to turn it into some kind of confrontation. I was merely trying to point out that 2nd amendment rights apply to everybody.
When you instantly went to insulting someone out the blue by calling them, like John Kerry, you revealed yourself as an unstable punk.
Evidently you want to argue with someone about some belief of yours and you are having trouble finding someone else to take the other side, but you keep plugging away, trying to stir up something, anything.
People with tattoos also go into stores that liberals like, not just America’s favorite store, that the left hates for being non-union and selling guns, and not being pro-democrat.
The closest one to NJ is Allentown and Bethlehem, PA.
It’s a road trip. But worth it,
OK I get it. You are not going to answer the question. I see the pattern. You can call me unstable and a punk but I see your tap dance for what it is. I know the Kerry song and dance and you have it down pat. I only insult those who don't have the balls to answer straight out questions.
Would you walk out in support if a non-cop was kicked out of an establishment because he was carrying?
LOL, what a desperate troll, so desperate that you will pick a stranger and just assign him a false position.
And this in TEXAS?
It just shows that TX is turning blue, fast.
OK I get your position when it comes to cops. Just don’t wear shorts or your kneepads will show.
So you aren’t just a troll, you are a liar as well.
Wouldn’t it be easier to find someone who disagrees with you, rather than just choose posters at random and assign them fake positions that aren’t their own?
I sure wish I'd had a better experience there, but the facility, the staff, and the food just sucked. They are all over the South, though, aren't they?
Oh, I understand. After all, it’s basically a fast food joint which means some are good and some are bad. I just like it because it represents something to ME - not to others.
Like I've never seen your posts before. I've been trolling for many years now. I guess since your position is not with the kneepads I gave you, you will answer my question and not continue to avoid the question. For my part if I was in a establishment that refused service to someone carrying I would depart at the same time. Cop or not. It is the 2nd amendment. I support it wholeheartedly. It is not a trick question. It is not anything to entrap ransom posters. It is an observation of how people choose to interpret the constitution. Wear a uniform and get a pass.
Put a sign on the door, “Welcome All Thieves, Free Pickings”.
I agree.
Being former military counts for nearly nothing.
I’ve been to Waffle House about six times in the last 4 years: FL, GA, and NC. All of them were clean and the service was good. In the GA Waffle House, one a patron was a carrying a holstered revolver and no one batted an eye, but then again it was GA.
