I am VERY INTERESTED in their new mobile payments platform called ApplePay, which works with the new iPhones.
Using a technology called near field communications, or NFC, the new iPhones will be able to interact with payment terminals in a simple tap. Apple has deals in place with the major credit card companies, including American Express, MasterCard and Visa, as well as several major retailers.
Apple touted ApplePays security. The company said it doesnt store your credit card information on your phone and the number isnt even given to the merchant.
ApplePay also works with the iPhones TouchID sensor allowing people to pay with a swipe of their fingertips.
Apple also said ApplePay is convenient. It already has your credit card information and address associated with your iPhone account when you pay for something, you can just touch the TouchID sensor and have items shipped to you.
(Ahhh... but what happens on your phone gets stolen?)
What could go wrong?
that price is good
i enjoyed mine iphone5 for awhile, until i realized that i need a bigger screen, and droid were, by now, fast enough.
I’m sure it is all terribly convenient and whatnot, but even if I had a phone with such a feature, I’d never use it.
For instance, when I pay my rent to the landlord, I go to his house and pay it - in cash - personally. Once a month, on the 15th.
We have a beer and shoot the bull a little; sometimes, we go to a nearby pub and play darts. He doesn’t mind at all - he said he appreciates the human touch in our era of high technology, which he himself enjoys greatly nonetheless, as do I.
But the human touch is indeed always appreciated.
...and compared to the iphone 6, the iphone 5 is a complete piece of crap...
I think that the new deactivation protocols protect your stuff if the phone gets stolen - in other words, it’s not like they’ve stolen your whole ID. They obviously don’t have your fingerprint, for one thing...
That said, it sounds interesting. I didn’t know they had this. In my opinion, their cloud stuff is not as good as Google services, but some of their phone apps (such as Passbook) are very good.
Might as well make an appointment at the nearest Ethical Suicide Parlor.
Unless they cut off your finger while they’re stealing your phone, of course.
Looks like a Samsung Galaxy S4
The Apple site shows it comparing itself with older iPhones. Not competitors as Apple is playing catch up.
Tim Cook needs to tuck his shirt in.

Does the Landlord give you a receipt?
How does the IRS know how much the Landlord is getting in income from the place since the transaction is in cash?
Is Applepay's Security done by the same group who secures iCloud?
Just sayin'...

Plenty! GTAT stock plunged from $17.68 to $14.80 before trading was halted on the stock, because there was no announcement clearly saying GTAT Sapphire glass was being used for the display cover. The price went back up to the 16s until the iWatch was announced with GTAT Sapphire glass, but plunged again to $15.00, bounced, and is now falling again.
While it is assumed by the market the iPhone 6 display covers must not be sapphire glass, the announcement did say the glass wa ion implanted for strengthening and arsenic free. This leads to the hope by some this ion implanting may be the GTAT process for its sapphire glass and not Corning’s Gorilla Glass. So, everyone is left wondering by Apple just what that iPhone 6 glass really is, Corning Gorilla Glass or GTAT Sapphire Glass?
Is it me or does the CEO copy Obama’s whispering emphasis in his cadence? These products are {strained whisper] bigger than bigger. [end whisper]
The glass is most likely a Type I borosilicate glass used in laboratories and pharmaceuticals.
The ion exchange process immerses the raw glass in a molten bath of potassium. The K+ ions replaces the Na+ ions on the glass surface and strengthens the material...at least that’s what is supposed to happen...LOL!
Well, it’s in the Czech Republic, but yes, he does give me a receipt.
A lot of transactions here take place in cash; this is still very much a cash economy.
There are credit cards here, but most people use debit cards, and the bulk of those now are the ‘contactless’ variety. European debit cards have that little chip in them, and the tech’s been upgraded to where you can just touch it to the card terminal, enter your PIN and that’s that.
But whenever I go to the store, the majority (well over 60%) of people here still pay in cash.

He wants to contrast himself from Microsoft’s former CEO (Steve Ballmer ) who struts, jumps and shouts around on stage like a TV evangelist.
Well, that could happen, but I think the finger actually has to be warm to register...of course, I guess they could do that too, up to a certain point when the finger...ugh, this is getting disgusting!
I use cash first, then pay pal, then debit card. I don;t have a credit card.
