A Washington state hunter is recovering after surviving an attack by an angry black bear that chased him up a tree, chomped down on his leg and clawed him with one of its big paws.
Retiree Jerry House knows how lucky he is to have fended off the bear. He said he got the bear off him only after he kicked the animal in the nose as he hung onto a tree branch.

That kick in Mr. Bear’s schnozzola saved retiree Jerry House’s life. That HAS to be one for the books.
Reminds me of a joke I can’t tell here, but the punchline goes - So the bear grabs the hunter’s gun and says to him ‘You don’t come here to hunt, do you.’
Some hunter, eh?
Good old joke.
I’d like to hear the bear’s side of the story.
Next time, he should bring a large , well loaded, hand gun.
“Hause was out hunting with his 28 year old son.”
Why didn’t they shoot the bear? This kind of stuff makes us look bad on the food chain!
So Mr. HAUSE turns to his son, who is tightening the laces on his Underarmor hunting/hiking/running shoes.
“Son, I don’t think that’s gonna do you much good. That there bear can outrun both of us.”
And Hause Jr. replied, “Pop, I don’t have to outrun him. I just have to outrun you.”
Where was the son?

Bear ping...
Idiot.
Just wait until he admits he tried to pet the animal.
Black Bears are animals that do not understand humans.
Stay away and observe, that is your power.
Guess he couldn’t bear it and embarked up a tree...
Lame joke...
ya wanna see lucky???

Bullshit. You don’t play liberal jackass in the woods and kill the first animal that doesn’t play.
Respect your world.
That is what I was thinking too. He should have been blowing 44 magnum holes in that bear. One of my former co workers told me, that when he was stationed at Elmendorf, most of them carried 44 magnums when they were out hiking, in case they came up on big animals, and not just bears. A big moose or elk could also do GBI to them.
Saw the interview on TV. He said next time he was going to bring a gun. He had been hunting with a bow.
Regulations in Oregon were changed to allow carrying a firearm while bow hunting just because of such encounters.
Predators in Oregon Washington & Idaho are becoming bolder as they become more numerous. Lots of stories about stand offs with wolves too.
Thanks for the laugh. Not hard to read the guy’s lips after that close encounter!
Ruger Alaskan .44 magnum, I’m thinking. That bear would be a rug.
Bear 1...hunter 0.
