In the future I will NOT be pinging the Not-A-Ping-List or the Kitty Ping List about my songs since I'm starting a Hopalong Ginsberg Ping List. Please contact me to get on or off the list.
So... is this a beta test?
I’ll give it a listen when I get home.
You need the Metal Guitar to cut in at 00.45...
Fade back at 2:55... pick it back up hard at 4:10.
I don’t drink anymore. Is that going to affect my enjoyment of this song?
Nice arpeggio. Please add me to your ping list ( beginner guitar player here).
from your Youtube page:
This song is not humorous. (Not intentionally, anyway.)
I suggest pictures of gay cowboys crying in the rain to help drive this point home
Congratulations, however, on producing a meta-country song. Some others are listed here.
Well a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
And he told me it was the perfect country and western song
I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was not the
Perfect country and western song because he hadn’t said
Anything at all about momma or trains or trucks or prison or gettin’ drunk
Well he sat down and wrote another verse to this song
And he sent it to me and
After reading it I realized that my friend had written the
Perfect country and western song
And I felt obliged to include it on this album
The last verse goes like this here
Well I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in the pick-up truck
She got runned over by a damned old train
And I’ll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin’ in the rain
And you don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’
You never even called me, well I wondered why you don’t call me?
Why don’t you ever call me by my name?
David Allan Coe - You Never Even Call Me By My Name Lyrics
A Three minute warning would be great, please.
Your last song was a hit with those i played it to.
Not to fear -- as long as the Bob Dylan Christmas album exists you don't have to be concerned with your vocals. (If you haven't heard that album ... DON'T!!) ... you'll never sing "right" again.
Seriously, nice work, S&A.
I’m not a knowledgeable critic, but I like your voice very much, Slings.
And you can’t beat that name. Please put me on Hopalong’s ping list.
Well, I’m out on the ledge with a cyanide pill between my teeth.
Was that what you were going for?
Vocals WAY WAY to up front. Intimate/in your ear vocals for minimalistic/acoustic songs are a given but it’s mixed way too loud vs. the Guitar. A bit of deEssing would help a lot. If you are ITB (which I assume with the midi guitar), you might consider manually deEssing via automation on the siblience or notching the offending band with a parametric EQ. I never had any luck with the compressor route, at least doing it properly.
JMO FWIW
Well I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison,
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But before I could get to the station in the pickup truck,
She got runned over by a damned old train
I really like the words and guitar playing.
And I like your voice a lot better than fakey professional voices belonging to narcissistic vile creatures with abhorrent personal lives and beliefs.
Hats off to you for creating this and putting it out there.
So that was a MIDI guitar track? Pretty convincing actually. Do you just program in the chords bar by bar or do you have to do the picking pattern note by note?
