"Country Songs Don't Have Happy Endings" - my new song [vanity, vanity, all is vanity]
Me, via YouTube ^ | 9/5/14 | Me, as "Hopalong Ginsberg"

Posted on 09/05/2014 1:12:34 PM PDT by Slings and Arrows

OK folks, I've got a new song out. This is also a country song, but not a humorous one. (Not intentionally, anyway.) Once again, I'd appreciate it if you'd give it a listen and an honest opinion, preferably in that order. The waaaaahmbulance is standing by.

A few quick notes:

1) I did indeed record the song as "Hopalong Ginsberg." No, that is not an autocorrected spelling of "Slings and Arrows."

2) Yes, I know what my voice sounds like, so let's get this out of the way:

3) If you like the song, or even if you just want to inflict it on an enemy, you can download the MP3 for free here. Or here. But not here.

4) To justify pinging my kitty ping list:

Well, the dump truck of reverb I poured on the track might help. In any case, you’re added.

I love him too. I’m just saying that, after you play his music, it’s a PITA to get the shoggoths out of the plumbing.

LOL

Well, I still like your voice...you have to have something to throw the reverb on, after all.

How to put this?

Let's just say that if we were up close and personal, that Bluto gif would come to life.

I keep a small emergency kazoo handy for just these situations.

Kazoo you say?

That's all well and good.

But how about a Kazookeylele?

That Bluto gif....that singer was Stephen Bishop. “On and On”, could have been a country song....no?

Vocals WAY WAY to up front. Intimate/in your ear vocals for minimalistic/acoustic songs are a given but it’s mixed way too loud vs. the Guitar. A bit of deEssing would help a lot. If you are ITB (which I assume with the midi guitar), you might consider manually deEssing via automation on the siblience or notching the offending band with a parametric EQ. I never had any luck with the compressor route, at least doing it properly.
