I should have said to follow the discussion at that thread.

People have the idea that planes would be used to attack a building, like on 9-11-01. But planes like that could potentially be used for an EMP attack, and if the transponders could be removed from the planes they would be invisible to radar making it possible for them to fly to ANY point over the US and detonate a nuke for an EMP attack.

I’m trying to find out how plausible such a scenario would be. I need input from people who are knowledgeable about such things.

Benghazi appears to be ground zero in where Obama is arming the Islamist terrorists. Just a few years ago Ghadaffi was one of our top allies in the war against these extremists, and without even asking Congress he singlehandedly turned the place into a hell-hole which puts the entire world in danger - potentially without any ability to defend itself, if the transponders can be removed from these planes. Thirteen stolen by this Brigade group, and in that thread there is a link to a report of another 11 stolen by some other terrorist group. That’s a couple dozen planes that could be used for EMP attacks if they’ve got an ally who would loan them some nukes...

There’s a reason Obama had that bunker built under the White House...

The invasion on the southern border may be to make sure there are enough Islamist operatives to take over the state capitols when the attack happens. This way he doesn’t even have to have US military people who are willing to detonate a nuke in US airspace...

Anyway, check out the thread and invite anybody you know who might have knowledge that would shed light on whether this is a real threat or just an imagined one.

There is a serious lack of understanding here. The transponder is used for identification of an aircraft ... not detection. The plane is still visible to radar. Taking out the transponder does nothing to the radar system ...

Planes can’t make a large scale EMP attack. The atmosphere absorbs/shields the blast to limit the size of the EMP to less than 20 miles.

Large scale EMP attacks require the nuke be set off high above the earth. The US test used a 1.4 Mt nuke set off at 250 miles up. The EMP damaged electrical equipment 900 miles away in Hawaii.

You don’t actually know anything about transponders and radar, do you?

Radar doesn’t need a transponder to be operational and detect an airplane.

Radar does not require an airplane to have a transponder to be tracked.

Transponders also can be turned off. They do not need to be removed.

Any airplane flying in controlled airspace without clearance and a transponder code will be intercepted and possibly be shot down.
