The pirouetting Palace guardsman: Soldier captured on video showing off his dance moves to delighted tourists (but top brass aren't so impressed)
Guarding the Queens home is a serious and solemn duty.
So its a good thing Her Majesty was not around to see this soldier apparently pirouetting on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace.

I have never understood how they can find guys that will do this kind of monotonous guard duty.
Guard duty is boring, but to have to do things like the French do where they stand at ease in front of the top officer’s tent, or the headquarters door, and snap to attention and slap their thighs every time someone walks by would be unbearable.
This would have been nice as a Saturday Night Live skit...but, instead, it explains why the British Empire has faded. I hope this will be allowed under sharia law...I guess we’ll see.
The Guards regiments do a lot more than public duties. They are crack units trained to a very high standard, and have the battle honors to prove it.

I believe that it is an honor and that the guys are proud to do those kind of things, but I sure wouldn’t want to, it would bore me to tears, I don’t have a performer’s personality.
This guy seems to agree — and has opted for reassignment to peeling potatoes.
That is what it seemed like to me, he was fed up and wanted out of the routine.
Maybe he was what we used to hear during the Vietnam war in the last months and weeks of someone’s term, SHORTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
