Craig Jeeves was woken by his tabby, Sally, and managed to escape with only smoke inhalation injuries
A Melbourne man owes his life to his cat, Sally, after she woke him up as his house was burning down.
Thanks to the quick-thinking tabby, 49-year-old Craig Jeeves was alerted to the early morning fire in his Melbourne home and managed to escape.
She jumped on my head and was screaming at me, he told the Nine network.

As a 30-something-year veteran of cat parentage, despite the heart-warming story line, I cannot get over the assumption the cat was simply trying to save its own skin (either “I want out!” or “you better come with me fool I’m going to need to eat after this.”) lol (1/2 joking)

My cat does that sometimes, but so far, fortunately, it’s just about an empty food dish.

Easy to figure out.... If he dies in the fire then his cat will not get fed. Plus now she will get extra good tuna fish
As usual the cat did it for itself

Thank you for the ping.
I think Sally wanted to save Mr. Jeeves and herself. Our cats do love us.
Shame about Jeeves losing everything. Here’s hoping he gets some help rebuilding the home.
Also, the FD should investigate the cause of the fire so that Jeeves can prevent its happening again.

You’re very welcome.
I know our cats love us, and I present the kitty cuddle puddle I sleep in as evidence.
