Anyone ever had dogs & cats in your area acting like they're scared but you can't figure out why?

I would also guess coyotes.
I saw a short bit on TV a few weeks ago about coyotes causing problems in downtown LA. I am talking about the four footed kind not the illegal alien smugglers.

James Berkland was on Art’s show predicting earthquakes. One of his tracking tools was the lost dogs/cats section of the paper -— the more animals missing, the greater likelihood of an earthquake (linked to celestial movements and other causes.

"Do you live in an earthquake-prone area?" Southern Ohio does have quakes every once in awhile but they are very mild and very rare.

Acepromazine is to dogs what thorazine is to humans. Don’t give it to Boxers though.

Leaks in high pressure water lines can create high frequency sound that only animals can hear.

My std poodle is scared to death of the dishwasher sounds and thunder. He shakes like a leaf with those two things.
4th of July is really tough on him.

“Well, I dont think its an Earthquake. They dont have many in Ohio.”
Tell that to Cincinnati. Back in the first half of the 19th century there was a massive earthquake (I believe it was the New Madrid Fault near the Mississippi River) that reversed the flow of the Ohio River. Cincinnati sustained a lot of damage, though at the time it was just a settlement and hub for river traders.

Some people think such behaviors presage an earthquake.
Sonic waves created by pre-quake stresses are supposedly picked up on by animals but not humans.
I don’t think it’s proven, but I don’t discount it as loony tunes.

In an urban environment I suspect sound above 20KHZ. Try to find a Boston Terrier and watch it's ears. These dogs hunt by ultrasound so sounds we cannot hear are in the sweet spot of their ears.
The other possibility that comes to me is a smell. Like a meth lab other chemical concoctions. Does your dog act normal outside the area where you live?

My border collie does not like the sound of wind. She wants in like now! Otherwise she wants to be outside.

In that case, I would say that the possibility of an influx of coyotes, or some other wild predator is very possible.

No when he goes outside he wants back in NOW.
Same with many other animals in the area...
