I have a rat terrier which is like that in that he wants in immediately after being let out to take care of business.

On the other hand, my daughters Yorkie-poo hasn’t the sense to come back in unless we go out after him and this is after he was attacked by a coyote a year ago.

The only things which saved him were the fact that he was tied up to a long leash and my wife heard the commotion when the coyote grabbed him and was there to immediately scare the coyote off.
