Week 1 is so tough. Preseason doesn't really give you anything to go on, and teams change so many personnel in the off-season who can tell how even the champs are gonna perform

Week 1

Thursday, Sept. 4

Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks, 8:30 p.m. Packers beat Seattle? In Seattle? I don't think so. Seahawks.

Sunday, Sept. 7

New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m. Saints continue winning ways, Falcons continue struggling.

Minnesota Vikings vs. St. Louis Rams, 1 p.m. Rams had high expectations for the season, but need a QB. Vikings aren't much, but they can ride AP to a win. Vikings.

Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m. Browns also need a QB. Heck, an entire offense. Steelers.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m. Jags were so bad last year. Maybe they're better this year but I doubt if they're better enough to beat Kelly's Company in Phillie. Eagles.

Oakland Raiders vs. New York Jets, 1 p.m.Jets win in a battle of stinkers. How many weeks does Rex Ryan have left in Gotham?

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. I hate to pick against my Ravens but after last season's mediocrity, I don't see them winning this one. Bengals.

Buffalo Bills vs. Chicago Bears, 1 p.m. Bears.

Washington Redskins vs. Houston Texans, 1 p.m. A stumper. Both were so bad last year. RGIII vs Ryan Fitzpatrick? The Texans D will win out. Texans.

Tennessee Titans vs. Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m. When in doubt, go with the home team. Chiefs.

New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. Patriots start another AFC East championship campaign.

Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:25 p.m. Panthers continue to improve against a team that defines moribund, Tampa Bay.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys, 4:25 p.m.Cowboys pull off the upset, sending shockwaves through Harbaugh-land.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos, 8:30 p.m. Broncos at home, Peyton on national TV? Broncos win big.

Monday, Sept. 8

New York Giants vs. Detroit Lions, 7:10 p.m. I can't figure either of these two confounding teams. Again, go with the home team. Lions.

San Diego Chargers vs. Arizona Cardinals, 10:20 p.m. Cards have a great D but am going with Rivers and the Bolts. Chargers.

As a Lions fan, this year is Stafford’s year to put up or shut up.

Caldwell has a good history with quarterbacks, so hopefully this will finally be his breakout year.
