I get fishing expedition calls daily. The ones that repeat I have the system hang up on. The ones that change numbers I monitor the numbers and if the number looks bogus I jus dont answer. The ones I answer and are bogus, I let them know in no uncertain terms that they are thieves and that I will report them. (I don’t but perhaps it takes me off their lists)
I am on state and federal do not call lists. But no one seems to abide by those anymore
I love those calls. Perfect opportunity for split personalities to come out and play.
Steven, the gay, is probably my favorite. Its amazing the ridiculous thing you can say to someone with that gay lisp. It becomes a challenge to see how sick, how awful, how perverse the comments get before they hang up.
“I let them know in no uncertain terms that they are thieves and that I will report them.”
Even if you do, the numbers are spoofed and they don’t care and the FCC really doesn’t care either. Ever hear of a telemarketing company being prosecuting?
“(I dont but perhaps it takes me off their lists)”
Not really. Answering verifies your number IS live and a person answers. . .and they sell your number to another telemarketing company and the cycle continues.
I turned off my answering machine, turned off the ringer and after a couple of weeks the number of telemarketing calls has fallen off to almost nothing because the computer only hears a phone ring and ring and ring (with no answer) meaning the number is un-monitored or non-working or incorrect.
I have answered a couple of the calls and as I start to tell them, in my most stern voice, to remove my number from their calling list they just hang up on me.
I used to just ask the solicitors if they could hold on for a minute and then lay the phone down and walk away. It really messes up their scheduling and they are so stupid they will hold on for a long time. Usually they never call back.
I get them all the time. And if I hang up, and then try to make a phone call, they’re still there! They seized my line. I used to be on 24/365 emergency duty at the water company I ran. Really ticked me off! I’ve found that if I run my thumb over all the buttons randomly, then hang up, they’re gone.
