Now that's weird...about 15 minutes ago, Discovery Channel posted a message from the original "Mythbusters" duo of Adam savage and Jaime Hyneman. In it they wished the trio of Tory Bellaci, Grant Imihara, and Kari Byron a fond farewell and wished them "all the best".
There were no announcements from Discovery about any problems or arguments with the three prior to this. In fact, the trio represented 'Mythbusters' at the Emmy Awards just this last week.
No one saw this coming. Already, the response on the 'Mythbusters' Facebook page is off the charts.
The fans of the show are giving off a collective "WTF???". There has (as of now) been no other word from Discovery Channel about their departure.

Now...what reason is there to even watch the show?

When is the last time Jamie and Adam even worked with Carrie Tori, and Grant on camera?

Charlie from “Ground Force”, beats Tori from “Myth Busters” any day.

They operated from different shops for years.
Sounds like a contract dispute. Probably the end for the show as a regular series.

I know, my wife and I looked at each other in complete shock. At least you get some kind of warning through the rumor mills....
Shame on their part. Kari was a big draw for the young male audience. Seeing a babe using high-powered weapons... yes, please!

Oh no you don't! I saw her first...!
BTW, doesn't she look like that redhead in the office with Mel Brooks as Gov. LePetomane in Blazing Saddles? ;-)
Cheers!

The near certain cause for the break is money. Successful TV shows often have to confront wildly escalating pay demands in their later years. Since Mythbusters has produced enough episodes to be a ripe candidate for syndication, there is or soon will be additional money to be had by the cast. The trick is to pry it away from the show’s owners and rights holders without getting pitched overboard.
To: hoagy62
It’s just money. Two high paid stars or 5? You do the math.

Considering the debacle that was “Shark Week”, you’d think they’d try NOT to upset the apple cart (as it were).

I thought this might be a hoax but I bounced over to Facebook and it seems it’s true. Sigh. Best comment from a poster, to the Discovery Channel: “Did you guys actually see the shark when you jumped it tonight?”

I suspect this will be the end of the show. The dynamic of different approaches is one of the major reasons MB was so successful. It shouldn’t surprise me as discovery is is really good at taking something successful and ruining it.

Mythbusters was renewed in early March and is considered a staple of the Discovery Channel.
