FULL TITLE: Convicted killer tried to skip sentencing hearing because he didn't want to hear his victim's grieving family 'b**** and whine'
A convicted murderer tried to skip his sentencing hearing because he didn't want to hear his victim's family 'b**** and whine' about what a monster he is, it has emerged.
Seth Mazzaglia, who was convicted in June of the 2012 killing of University of New Hampshire student Elizabeth Marriott, dropped his bid to skip the hearing after an appearance in court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Peter Hinckley had argued that Mazzaglia, 31, should be compelled to attend the sentencing hearing, which will be held on Thursday.
'Suffice it to say there are multiple interests at stake - the court's, the public's, the victim's family and the defendant's,' Hinckley told Strafford County Superior Court Judge Steven Horan.

When we did victim impact testimony, it was indeed the most heart wrenching testimony of all.
Fine. Let him skip the hearing and give him the utmost maximum.
fingers in ears , LA LA LA LA
Gee, that’s too bad, your feelings will be hurt. You will experience some minutes of uncomfortable glares...
Coward.
All he should have to hear is, “Ready! Aim! FIRE!!!”
Eh, let’s just send him to Arizona...
Hang him??? C'mon...gimme a break. This is Massachusetts not...Texas.We're gonna get him the help he so desperately needs and deserves. He obviously had a bad childhood, living as a transgendered....
Well,I think you get the idea.
You know, American prisons sure have a lot of inmates named “Bubba”.
He insisted that he should have been found 'innocent of the big stuff'.
...which consisted of rape and murder. That littering conviction, though - they got him there.
I'm all for an efficient use of the poor fellow's time. It doesn't take very long to drop six feet.
It takes 0.611 seconds, or 611 milliseconds, to fall six feet. At the end of that time interval, the falling object has a velocity of about 13.4 mph.
I think this is BS.
The sentence is the punishment. I would put this guy to death and not think twice about it, but the mawkish VIS ought to be optional until it’s written into the law as part of the punishment.
He should be forced to go to the sentencing hearing.
I’d rather the sentence be carried out a little faster. There is no doubt he is guilty.
There is no reason for delay.
This is not a circumstantial case where he could be exonerated at some later date.
I am tired of criminals like him being placed in prison for 15 years before being executed. He has admitted he killed the girl. He shows no remorse so he should receive none
its where? not that were any better.
“Capital punishment in the U.S. state of New Hampshire is a legal form of punishment for the crime of capital murder, the only crime for which the death penalty may be imposed in the state. Since 1734, twenty-four people have been executed, with the last execution carried out in 1939. As of 2008, there was one man on “Death Row”; however, there is no execution chamber.
Hanging is the method of execution historically used in the state. Lethal injection is currently the primary legal form of execution, though hanging can be utilized if lethal injection is determined to be “impractical to carry out the punishment of death”.[2] Between 1868 and 1939, executions have taken place at the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord. The long moratorium on executions means that while officially considered a “retentionist” state, only four US states have not performed executions more recently than New Hampshire (Maine, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin) and only two countries in the European Union (Sweden and Portugal).
Michael “Stix” Addison was sentenced in December 2008 for knowingly causing the death of Manchester police officer Michael L. Briggs.[1] He is the only person currently on death row in New Hampshire.”

Ooops...you caught my error. It's New Hampshire, not Massachusetts. This story is getting big coverage on local Boston newscasts because 1) the dead girl was from the Boston area and 2) southern New Hampshire is basically a suburb of Boston and, therefore, watches Boston TV stations.
I just can’t even imagine how any 19 year old girl could have rebuffed his advances. Such a great specimen of humanity, manliness. Ugh.
