How you’ve responded says more than enough of your lack of understanding overall. We’ll just leave it that we’ll agree to disagree.

NO, I defend His word against one who would spread lies. You should read the Word of what Paul did to a guy who was doing what you are doing. He struck him dumb!

I defend the Word of God, and I will not worry about your feelings, because you are WRONG!

No, I have the Word of Christ on my side, yet you dare accuse me of not understanding the Word.

I challenge you to give me ONE Scripture to back up your fear of spreading the Gospel over seas.

JUST ONE VERSE!

You can leave and think you have an upper hand, but the Scriptures are full of warnings against those who would lead Christians astray.

You must understand whom is actually talking to at the time. For the Israel people to become a christian they would had to leave their Mother, Father (home), brother and sisters and even their children to follow Jesus and follow his Gospel. ...Then he said to do so you will gain so much more back, as when you are Born Again in the Holy Ghost makes everyone that is also Born Again.. your brother and sister... for we are then have but one Father and eternal life together

He is speaking to all Christians. Christians are called to spread the Gospel to the corners of the earth.

Christ spoke, knowing the apostles would follow Him and lead others to follow Him.

You can parse the Word all you want, but the Jews who followed Christ were Christians, and so are we.

He was talking about leaving the old conditioned belief systems of your family....Doing this alienates you from those who still retain the old judgmental beliefs as the Jews believed ....if we lose our family because of our faith we will find others who take over those roles in our lives. If you fellowship with those who love God you will find spiritual family

He warned against Christians who hid their light.

Why do you think He allowed Stephen to be stoned?

he did so because they were only sharing the Gospel with other Jews, but Christ wanted them to go out and spread the gospel to all people.

Why do you think Paul went to Rome?

The apostles spread out, and those they brought to Christ spread out.

The missionary service wasn’t meant to be limited to lazy Christians who are in fear of their lives.

You have this screwed up understanding of the teachings of Christ.

If more Christians were doing missionary work, we would not have the problems we have around the world.

American Christians are lazy Christians who are fooling themselves if they think the safety of their home will save them as long as they only share the gospel with their neighbor.

Why do you think Islam is spreading as it is? It’s because Christians fear for their lives, so they will not go to countries that are dangerous for them as the apostles did.

Reading comprehension not one of your strong points, eh. The guy was a missionary and was not criticizing anyone for being a missionary. He was 100% supportive of Christians doing missionary work, he was one himself. I suggest you reread what you criticized, or learn how to read English better.

God has required total commitment from His followers, to the point of heart-breaking separation from any natural family members ‘who reject Jesus’, but in heaven we will have a hundred times what we lost—an entire family of believers who love Christ and who love us! Even the material things that we had forsaken in order to follow Him will be given back to us in a form a hundred times better than what we lost!

I thought her column on soccer was the one of the dumbest things I have read recently. But this one tops that one in the stupid category by a good stretch. With friends like her, who needs enemies.

The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.

If it weren’t for the millions of missionaries giving all for Christ through the years as He called them to do, Christianity never would have brought the Empire of Rome to it’s knees.

Even with 10 major persecutions, the missionaries continued to spread the Gospel. Well, my friend, the Gospel is in retreat because of beliefs like yours.

....”If more Christians were doing missionary work, we would not have the problems we have around the world”.....

That work begins in the home with ones family.

As for the world...we will still have problems regardless of where the Gospel is preached, for it will be denied as well as received...in fact HE tells us we will be hated just as HE was. The love of a Christian for a non-Christian is almost always seen as hatred, intolerance, bigotry, etc. But we must be okay with being seen as "hating." After all, our unbelieving relatives are 'part of the world', and Jesus said, “"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first” (John 15:18)

Read what he wrote to me in comment # 13.

He did not come off as he was willing to understand that sacrifice is part of the job of missionaries.

I have very good reading comprehension.

Lot of good that family work does in Africa or Afghanistan or Pakistan where the family is not Christian.

...”Why do you think Islam is spreading as it is?”....

Because it has not been identified as the enemy it is. Rather our ‘tolerance of evil’ is far more than our discernment in the world today...in fact too often good is seen as evil and evil as good. Jesus said this would come and we’re seeing it.

The call if genuine would show it by integrating all factors. That doesn’t mean the missionary can’t fail, but at least he’d be moved to try.

The charity that begins at home shows itself in the marketplace.

The account of a missionary supported by a church I used to go to (before I geographically left its area) is very plain and clear: Family life is VERY important when witnessing to Islamic believers. Islam is social. It is in America where we have such an atomized view of life.

The world is heading to a final conclusion because God knew that men, even Christians would not follow His commandments.

God knew that even though He told us to spread the Gospel, we would not.

We have become an arrogant people who think that our family is too precious to sacrifice for him.

If a missionary goes overseas, and gets sick and dies, it is up to the Church that sent him or her to watch over them.

There are more than enough Christians in America to take care of Americans if only we would.
