Jonathan Alter at the Daily Beast has an idea that will infuse the president’s “economic patriotism” rhetoric with some bite: Compel companies to take “loyalty oaths” to prove their patriotism.

You may find this suggestion a little creepy, maybe even a little fascistic; but Alter says that “it’s time for red-blooded Americans to take matters into our own hands.”

And by taking the matter into “our” hands, Alter means that President Obama would unilaterally bar any company that practices “inversion” – corporate merging with foreign firms to save on U.S. tax bills – from doing business with the federal government. Companies that follow the administration requirements will earn a government seal of approval. If you act “un-American” and fail to recognize your “real interests” and those of the United States – which are, naturally, indistinguishable from the president’s agenda – you will be shunned and your business punished.

You will be powerless to stop it.

I took my Oath, on July 16, 1970.

That Oath, was to no king, no president (surely not this queer one), and to no other living piece of flesh.

Here it is:

10 U.S.C § 502. Enlistment oath: who may administer

(a) Enlistment Oath.— Each person enlisting in an armed force shall take the following oath:
“I, XXXXXXXXXX, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
(b) Who May Administer.— The oath may be taken before the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary of Defense, any commissioned officer, or any other person designated under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense.

So, if some piece of flesh ever asks me, “Oh, have you sworn your oath to our beloved President, Barack HUSSEIN Obama?”

My response shall either be to inform where the nearest dealer of marital aids is, purchase one, and instgruct them what to do with it;

or,

Give them the blessing that ends with: “your horse, too!”

I used to consider people who used the term “fascist” about Americans to be commie nuts. And maybe, back then, I was right.

But America is basically fascist now. (And this was in the works long before Obama!!!)
