Despite concerns around the globe that the Ebola virus may continue to spread and mutate into something even more deadly, the director of the CDC attempted to assuage fears about the possibility of an outbreak on U.S. soil.
It is not a potential of Ebola spreading widely in the U.S., director Thomas Friedman told reporters on a conference call Thursday. That is not in the cards.
But while the CDC downplays the potential threat, emergency planners behind the scenes have been getting ready since as early as April of this year. In a report presented to Congress while the virus was spreading in West Africa, the Department of Defense said that it has dispatched biological detection kits to National Guard units in all 50 states with the capability of diagnosing the virus in infected patients in as little as 30 minutes.

I’m not a Dr or scientist, but let’s see what would have more risk, letting the virus in to the country or not letting it in?
Tough question.
Preppers PING!
Let’s make this our weekly prepper thread.
I’ll go first.

I picked up some nice Coleman brand light sticks at Smiths (Kroger) 25 cents each on clearance.
Last I got this From Marcella on medical gloves:
I will get heavy duty Nitrile Gloves. I have gloves but they are not thick enough to make me comfortable with deadly viruses. Here is some info. on thick ones. I wont get them here since would have to buy so many.

Can you add me to your ping list? Thanks!
Not a smidgen of a chance
Another example of why it's critical to have a government the people can trust; why character matters in elected officials and in the alphabet agencies.
Not to mention a responsible media.
Please add me to your ping too.
Please also add me to your list if you can. Thanks.
Never believe anything until it has been officially denied.
Was this the head of the CDC that left vials of Anthrax in the closet, plague virus in ziplock bags for shipment, etc.? Can already hear the “unexpectedly, the Ebola virus was released into major metropolitan areas todaty”. The head of the CDC says not to worry because we have everything under control. Citizens are requested to report to the assigned FEMA quarantine camp.
open borders annd ebola...can one call this treason.
Please add me to your ping list as well.
Watching the “The Stand” now on Netflix.
The Dark Man is Here!!
Another blithering idiot from Obamaland speaks out. As if this lying POS has any idea whether the Ebola virus will spread in the US. There is one thing I am certain of, and that is that the Ebola virus cannot jump over an ocean. Anyone with half a brain would refuse entry onto any plane or ship heading to the US. No one with Ebola virus should be allowed to enter the US.
Was in Walmart earlier thinking I’d buy some disinfectant wipes that come in the cylindrical plastic containers. They were pricey at 3 containers for just under $10, with I think was 225 total wipes. So I decided instead to go buy isopropyl alcohol and just use paper towels. After all, I’ve had those plastic container wipes dry out here in the high desert. So I went to the shelves where the isopropyl should be and the shelves were bare. Could have bought some grain alcohol but it’s expensive. Figured I’d just use the bleach I have if needed. Perhaps somebody knows which is more effective at killing a virus; bleach or alcohol? More importantly, if Eblola gets loose in this country, I don’t think I want to be in a situation where I need to be sanitizing surfaces. I’m thinking more along the lines of decontamination while taking off gloves and such.
Perfect opportunity to impose martial law under a moral appearing justification....
Why did you buy the 13 mil Nitrile gloves instead of the 15 mil?
Here is a thought for anyone who saves old telephone books as a substitute for T.P. when the SHTF.
The pages of SHOTGUN NEWS are printed on paper that is at least as thin, if not thinner than that used for telephone books.
The paper seems tough enough and the pages are larger - about 10” X 12”.
Also, an old copy of Shotgun News is a lot more interesting to look through than last years Yellow Pages while sitting on the throne.
