Guess that explains why you don’t see a lot of Emo Kids at Kiss concerts.

I agree with him on the suicide thing, I think a lot of people do it with a revenge mindset.

Gotta admit, he’s got a point.
I lived for years with a family member with mental illness. It sucked for them and for the rest of the family too. But once we figured out they were using that ‘mental illness’ for attention and excuses to do or not do things. We all eventually quit enabling them.

I’ve come to have a grudging respect for Gene. He’s a really good businessman & he is pro-troops ..... still can’t stand “the tongue”, though. One of the people he was talking about in this article I know well .... and Gene’s comments on that score are accurate.

The headline made it sound like he told a depressed person, literally, to go commit suicide. He did nothing of the sort. He made sarcastic comments about people who don’t count their blessings. Something I need to do more often!

read the whole article...its incredible and Simmons is spot on:
<>” Simmons went on to slam Run-D.M.C. for being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“”So I will give the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame credibility even though it’s got Run-D.M.C. and Madonna and some other people on it, as soon as the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame allows Led Zeppelin inside,” stated Simmons. “You’d say, that’s ridiculous. Oh really? But Run-D.M.C. is in the Rock Hall? What brand of guitar do you play? What song have you ever sung?”

Depression is a disease of the mind. Telling someone suffering depression to go kill themselves is about as constructive as telling someone suffering heart disease or cancer to go kill themselves. It might make the idiots who say it feel a little better about their miserable selves, but it contributes nothing but a little mindless cruelty to a world already overflowing with it. Simmons needs to STFU and stick to groveling for forgiveness from the mother of his kids on TV.
To: Citizen Zed
However he meant it, clinically depressed people should not have to hear him say “ kill yourself”! I thought he was smarter than that.

Don't kill yourselves. Get some sunshine, a lot of sunshine. It is the best, maybe the only effective anti-depressive medicine there is without the murderous side effects of prescription anti-depressants. If you work at night or live up north where the sun is at a less effective angle, take vitamin D-3 supplements. I have watched the sunshine treatment work impressively and apparently totally on two women. One, In Viet Nam, was a manic-depressive (is that "bi-polar" these days?) anorexic bulimic. I got her taking a lot of D-3, not for the M-D because I didn't know about that effect, but because she got a lot of flu and colds. VN women fear the sun and stay covered up so that the sun doesn't touch their skin. She took the supps for a year. After a year she had had no virii for the time and, additionally, her M-D went totally away.
A doctor at the French hospital got her on a program that eased her out of the bulimia and the anorexia had gone with the M-D.
Seeing how that apparently worked I got my M-D daughter on the D-3. She is a night owl and seldom sees the sun. She quit taking the xanax et al and has been evened out for two years.

Uh oh. Sounds like Gene has finally gotten to that age where people just say what they think and let the chips fall where they may. Can’t have that, can we?
