Kelsey Grammer forgave the man who raped and murdered his sister but said that he should not be released, during an emotional testimony at the killer's parole hearing on Tuesday.
The 59-year-old Frasier star testified against 57-year-old Freddie Glenn who kidnapped and murdered his 18-year-old sister, Karen Elisa Grammer, in 1975 when she was leaving her job at a Red Lobster in Colorado Springs.
'I accept that you live with remorse, but I live with tragedy every day,' the Cheers star said via satellite link at a Colorado parole hearing.
'I accept your apology. I forgive you. However, I cannot give your release my endorsement.'

I never knew this about Mr. Grammer. He seems like a really nice person. Poor fella.
Well,he’s a better man than I am then.
incredible. i forgive you. you raped and killed my sister. really?
how about i nail you to the side of a building for three days, pull up a lawn chair, watch you die, then i forgive you. that ok?
I don’t think this was the only tragedy in his early life. I thank him for sticking up for his sister, not her murderer should not walk one day as a free man, if he wanted to be free he could have just, you know, not kidnapped, raped and killed this woman.
Look up Kelsey’s family history. It is all f’d up.
bttt
Who knows what Grammer really thinks about this subhuman POS.... Political correctness required him to speak those platitudes of forgiveness, IMO and Mr. Grammer knows that quite well.
Grammer isn’t a bad guy.
WOW. He is definitely a better man than I.
This guy should have been worm-food a long time ago.
Bless his heart. I didn’t know, either. :( That had to have been tough.
His dad was also murdered, and a brother got eaten by a shark.
I pray to never have to be in Mr. Grammer’s shoes on an issue like this. I don’t know how families deal with these kinds of things. Ours has had its share of tragedy and disfunction, like most.... but something like this.... man, I can’t imagine.
Wow... He was 19 or 20 at the time and she was 17....this pos raped and murdered his younger sister....he was about the same age....
I guess 40 years is long enough to work out some forgiveness....
Guy should have been taking a dirt nap 35 years ago...
One thing for sure... If He is was executed, Mr Grammer would not need to testify at his parole hearing and have to relive that nightmare again....
+1
Yes, but he found Jesus and has turned his life around as evidenced by his lack of rape and murder charges over the past several decades. Damn those white people are such sticklers for detail.
I’ll take justice and let God worry about forgiveness
The reason I hold for capital punishment is my firm belief that forgiveness of any trespass is the sole privilege of the victim. The Lord can forgive all, however, we can only forgive that which has been done against ourselves. A victim of murder can no longer forgive their killer thus justice demands that we require repayment for that which was taken be exacted. A life once taken requires a life forfeited in return. No friend, relative or human judge can remove this debt!
Mr. Grammer strikes me as a good man, perhaps this is for his own peace, and not that of the killer.
