Baltimore Ravens fans gave running back Ray Rice a standing ovation as he jogged onto the field during training camp practice on Monday, according to the team's website.
Rice acknowledged the cheering fans by pointing to the crowd.
Rice was seen on video in February dragging his then-fiancée out of an Atlantic City casino elevator. He was charged with third-degree aggravated assault after Janay Palmer, whom he later married, was left unconscious following the incident. Rice agreed to enter into a diversion program to avoid a jail sentence.

Typical for a Democrat politician, typical for a Democrat city.
At least they didn’t start yelling, “Hit her again, hit her again. Harder, harder!”
Won’t be long they’ll all be able to self-’medicate’ in the stands or in smoke rooms .. Dam, ya see the price of beer?
Best wishes to the newlyweds!
With all due respect to Americans, but there does seem to be a sick level of what kind of behaviors are considered acceptable when it comes to American football.
The Ravens organization, coaches, players and fans richly deserve each other.
Sports media celebrates thug culture on and off the field, then gets the vapors when an athlete acts like a thug with a woman.
Imagine the Standing O he would have received if he was queer and had beaten his boyfriend?
Insanity that this man is still allowed to play and not spend many many years in prison
Don’t forget hockey. Patrick Roy was applauded too.
Really this thing has blown out to silly. A - a two game NFL suspension is actually a pretty stiff penalty (1/8 of the season, if you got kicked out of work for 6.5 weeks you wouldn’t call that a minor punishment). B - we still don’t know what happened. C - oh they cheered a fan favorite player, gee that never happens. This and the Dungy thing are really showing what a bunch of whiny twits the sports press is, desperate to make sure all things are blown completely out of proportion.
Great observation, so very true.
Do Americans watch hockey?
well isn’t that special!
On an ir-relevent side note, I think the only Republican city that has an NFL team is Green Bay.
The NHL actually has higher revenues than the NBA
You’re kidding! Hockey is soccer on ice.
Well, it’s hard to say what’s a city and what’s a region, but cities like Cincinnati, Indianapolis an kc are pretty republican places. City proper not so much, but the areas are. Same with Dallas and Phoenix.
But let him say a word that could be interpreted as homophobic.......
You can't be serious ...
