A Minnesota jury has awarded former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura $1.8 million Tuesday in his lawsuit against the estate of American Sniper author Chris Kyle.
On the sixth day of deliberations, the federal jury decided that the 2012 best-selling book defamed Ventura in its description of a bar fight in California in 2006.
Kyle wrote that he decked a man whom he later identified as Ventura after the man allegedly said the Navy SEALs 'deserve to lose a few.'

Where could he ever again show his ugly mug in public without someone yelling out "SCUMBAG!"?
I feel so sorry for Chris’s widow. My heart goes out to her for the injustice that has been done here.
Face the facts. This story was made up to sell a book. What the hell is wrong with you people?
If you were ex military would you be ok if someone made up a story about you saying maybe other soldiers should die?
If you were ex-military would you SUE THE INNOCENT WIDOW OF A SEAL FOR ALL SHE’S GOT?
Just ponder this. After your actions this is the absolute best that you can look forward to upon your demise. No SEALS, no UDT, no USN, just clowns.
On second thought even clowns at core have a sense of right and wrong.
I agree with your assessment of ventura.
All in all jesse is just butt hurt because today’s SEALs get all the glory while he’s nothing but a comment above a urinal
I agree with you. It matters not what one’s opinion of Jesse Ventura is, slander is still slander. A law is not a just law unless it is applied equally to the ignoble as it is to the noble among us.
“If he thinks his name was tarnished by Kyle before, this is a far worse PR hit. Suing the family of a dead war hero, really? Doesnt get any lower than that.”
I can only hope that one of Chris’ buddies comes forward and does a repeat performance on jesse.
Maybe he is scum. I don’t care. But the man and his family made 6 million because the book sold well. If it sold well because people bought it to read that anecdote. And if there was not convincing proof it really happened... Well then the law suite seems warranted. It was not HIS widow. Why does he owe her millions made off of his fame and reputation? I don’t know what the evidence was in the case and neither do most people here. But you can’t just make crap up and the profit at others expense. Not unless you are a Democrat.
It’s SEAL, because those letters mean something.
Well said. This mob in here with the pitchforks makes me sick. If you don’t like the Rule of Law find another forum.
At several points, Ventura offered to drop the suit if Kyle and the publisher and later Kyle’s widow and the publisher would acknowledge that the story was not true. They refused.
Minnesotans apparently adore him.
If Ventura had any sense of honor at all, he would have dropped this suit after Kyle was killed. Lowlife jerk.
Are you retarded or a left wing but? If you think Kyles book sold because of one paragraph about a 9/11 truther ahole then in all likelihood you are both.
First:
This story is a made up lie to sell a book
Second:
I would consider telling a lie on national television about a fellow soldier saying he thought other soldiers should die to be a pretty serious issue.
Third:
Someone had the idea to make this story up so how do you know she’s innocent? Maybe she knew it was a made up story. Who knows but one thing is certain and that is she stood to profit mightily off the destruction of an innocent former soldiers reputation.
Last
Ventura has stated its the publishers insurance is who is financially on the hook for slander. Not sure of the accuracy but to me it does not matter.
So the three witnesses who swore under oath that Ventura was badmouthing the troops all perjured themselves right?
You don't like Jessie Ventura so the truth doesn't matter to you. We get it.
Ventura is a 9/11 truther whiney bastard and serial slanderer of Bush and Cheney who deserved to get knocked on his ass. Deal with that dipsh^t.
