Also, the article says the report shows that there is no difference in the health of homosexual vs straight people, but then it goes on providing statistics, which shows the opposite -- they smoke more, binge drink more, have more "psychological distress" and so on...

These numbers are significantly lower than most American’s estimate.

That's because the number of avowed homo characters or 'personalities' on the TeeVee is more like one in four, giving the impression that such behaviour is much more common (and much more acceptable) than it actually is.

So, of this 3%, how many want to get married? Some are happy being single. Some may be content with civil unions. Some may live together and aren't interested in anything more formal. So, of the 3%, what is the percentage that want to marry? Is it 10%? 20%?. Even if it's 50% we still have our courts, politics and media obsessed with an issue that affects maybe 1.5% of our population.

As others on this thread have pointed out, the over representation of gays/lesbians in the media and the rest of the entertainment industry has allowed a tiny fraction of the population to ride herd over the majority, keeping what should be a non-issue at the forefront of discussion, distracting us from unemployment, wars and other, more consequential issues. Any conservative politician who get trapped into discussing gay marriage is a fool. It's a chance to get run out of town over nothing.

The public may estimate a quarter of the population to be queer because that many or more are presented to be in the entertainment media. And homosexual representatioin in the entertainment field is pretty lopsided anyway. Not only is entertainment heavy with them but many straight actors claim to be homosexuals for publicity and career advancement in a homosexual and pedophilic entertainment culture.
