In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
factitious (fak-TISH-uhs) adjective
1. Artificial.
2. Sham.
Example sentence:
"'For me, this is the only real place,' David says in the novel, but for the reader the city remains disappointingly factitious."
--Say Nice Things About Detroit; The New Yorker; Aug 27, 2012.
Etymology:
From Latin facticius (artificial), past participle of facere (to do). Earliest documented use: 1646.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Hi, all!
Liberals and Socialists are a disgusting and fractious lot.
A thieving, disgusting, racist polyglot.
Stealing what’s in your wallet and your vote to maintain order.
As a Tsunami of parasites move north across our border!
Oh, and. “They’re takin’ out jerbs!”
Rubio is not the one born in Canada, right?
I think this border fiasco now actually works for him, cause he can pivot and reposition himself. He’ll still be distrusted on the issue, but I think this summer is killing the issue for the foreseeable future.
Of course, the FReeper cranks will still hate him.
After an agonizing interregnum, a new pope was elected, a good and holy man with a pastoral heart. All seemed to be well, though he was not dogmatically inclined as Benedict had been: all that was left to the CDF. I found myself explaining that Francis was hermeneutically absolutely Benedictine, entirely orthodox, everything a pope should be, just with a different way of operating. I still believe all that. But here is increasingly a sense of uncertainty in the air, which cannot be ignored. One knew where the Church and the Pope stood says Fr Blake. Now, we have a Pope who can be adored by such enemies of the Catholic Church as the arch abortion supporter Jane Fonda, who tweeted last year Gotta love new Pope. He cares about poor, hates dogma. In other words, for Fonda and her like, the Church is no longer a dogmatic entity, no longer a threat. Thats what the world now supposes: everything is in a state of flux. The remarried will soon, they think, be told they can receive Holy Communion as unthinkingly as everyone else: thats what Cardinal Kasper implied at the consistory in February. Did the pope agree with him? There appears to be some uncertainty, despite the fact that the Holy Father had already backed Cardinal Muellers insistence that nothing has changed.
yes, there is no rehabilitating them with the FR cranks, but then other than Palin or Cruz, no one has a chance with the unappeasables. I did think that maybe the current crisis might enable a pivot on his part. Like I said, he sounded good to me last night on the issue.
I haven’t seen or heard from him lately.
I think Scott Walker could be an interesting candidate, but don’t know if he’s going to want to run. Just on the basis of attacking sacred cows and really trying to save taxpayer dollars. I don’t know much else about him.
No more senators. They make bad presidents. I want someone who has had a real job, run a budget, managed departments, etc. Like Rick Perry.
BTW, I saw where you corrected someone on Twitter but it flew right over his mitre.
All it needs is the WFTD and it gets an A+!
You’ll have to be more specific. LOL
The Rick Perry that has been in evidence in the past 2 years yes, the Rick Perry that “ran” the last go round, no.
He has his Clark Kent glasses now.

Williamson quotes the Big Lebowski.
He was on meds last time, dealing with a back problem. He has owned the gravitas for president since.
Why would we listen to someone who cannot even write his own name?
As in the group- “Frank the Factitious & the Fairies”
I’m listening to Steely Dan right now so you get an A+ for musical usage.
Hilarious!
Huh?
