Yeah, and the buildings are financed by a combination of taxes and public bonds. The owners demand new stadiums every 35 or 40 years. The bonds that paid for the stadium being demolished haven’t even been retired yet.
That, and baseball, is part of what makes America unique. I will never forget attending games at Tiger Stadium (Briggs Stadium then, but I am dating myself) as a child. That first glimpse of the green grass as you walked up the ramp towards the field was thrilling. Still the greenest grass I have ever seen.
