Archie Andrews will die taking a bullet for his gay best friend.
The famous freckle-faced comic book icon is meeting his demise in Wednesdays installment of Life with Archie when he intervenes in an assassination attempt on Kevin Keller, Archie Comics first openly gay character. Andrews death, which was first announced in April, will mark the conclusion of the series that focuses on grown-up renditions of Andrews and his Riverdale pals. [ ]
We wanted to do something that was impactful that would really resonate with the world and bring home just how important Archie is to everyone, said [Jon] Goldwater, [Archie Comics publisher and co-CEO]. Thats how we came up with the storyline of saving Kevin. He could have saved Betty. He could have saved Veronica. We get that, but metaphorically, by saving Kevin, a new Riverdale is born.

Let the parodies begin. I can imagine a large number of ways in which the comic is torn apart. Of course, the classic parody was by MAD magazine’s Bill Elder, who did one called “Starchie”.
I’m aware, though I haven’t read an archie comic since I was five.
Just saying it’s not a continuity oriented comic, and never was.
oh my freakin’ god - as if this idea couldn’t be stupider. There is no senator, outside of the former junior one out of Illinois, dorky enough to befriend Archie. Unless of course he was using Archie as a path to Betty and/or Veronica - which is clearly not the case here. Disbelief not suspended.
See if you can find the Kurtman and Elder parody “Goodman Beaver Goes PL*YB*Y”
They lost the artwork to Archie Comics in the 1960s but it was published twice (in Kurtzman’s Help magazine and in the collected paperback The Executive’s Comic Book or something like that).
Maybe they meant "assignation", and Archie took one for the team...
It’s a great ploy. Talk about presenting a challenge and appealing to that most female of vices - vanity.
The message they are trying to send is not necessarily the one that will be received.

Archie died a while back—Around the time when Kevin showed up, in fact.
As long as the fag dies too, I see this as win-win.
I don’t know why people still read that crap
Who are you?????
Good gosh, you nearly made me spit on my screen several times in this thread!
Personally Kevin Keller is one character whose “back-story” I would prefer not to read about.
(My guess would be that young Kevin away from home and moved to Riverdale because he didn’t like the way he was being reared.)
But he went back home because he couldn't leave his brothers behind.
I may be wrong but that sounds more like Bowers vs. Hardwick, a case arising from Georgia. Lawrence vs. Texas overruled Bowers vs. Hardwick. I don’t have the text of either decision and I am doing this on memory.
Archie died several years ago when the comic got taken over by the far left wing and became nothing more than gay liberal propaganda.
Can you imagine the reaction in the lamestream media if the writers did that? They would be run out of business for hate crimes.
Of course, no one buys the comic now. But by being "socially relevant" the writers preserve their media career options after they finally bankrupt Archie comic (financially and not just morally).
"Archie was the bitch and Jughead was the butch. That's why Jughead wears that crown-looking hat all the time. He the king of queen Archie's world." - Chasing Amy (1997)
Good riddance to a stupid comic book.
We only saw TWO cougars ...
Thanks for the info.
