Chafee said the woman let him in and Fontana told her, "We're going to have some fun." The woman also described Fontana as having a weird laugh.
Police said Fontana got frustrated because he didn't know how to drive a manual transmission. He put the gun down in his lap and the woman grabbed it and tried to get out of the car.
The suspect grabbed her, bit her several times and attempted to pull her back in the vehicle, Chafee said.
Investigators said Fontana bit her on the arm, leaving visible marks, and at some point she used his own gun to shoot him in the leg.

""We're going to have some fun."
She sure did!!!! As I read this story, I thought it would be a great idea to buy a manual transmission, since it would deter theft.

§he came through in the ‘clutch’.-—pun intended.
Pun rhymes with fun and if this chump enjoys a bullet to his leg then so be it. What a moron and he’s lucky to still be one.

This isn’t the first time this creep has done this, and he had no intention of letting her out of it alive.

When we bought a brand new vehicle (an F150, to be exact) from the dealership a few years ago, since it was going to be
my main "wheels," I insisted that it have:
1) a manual transmission
2) hand-crank windows
In Southern California particularly, having a stick is good prevention against theft or carjacking. As for the windows -- to hell with not being able to do a friggin' thing about windows stuck UP (usually when it's stifling hot) or stuck DOWN (usually when it's raining) without taking time out of important stuff and driving to a repair place to pay $$$ out the nose to have it fixed. MUCH better to just go with hand-crank windows. I love them.
However, the main reason I insisted on a stick is because I love to drive, especially winding backroads. You steer automatics. You drive sticks! {^)

Vigilante justice is becoming more and more called for in the U.S. — when bail for a monster like this is $3,000 — that means he only has to come up with $300 to make bail??!?? — then right people have to work outside the law to protect themselves and their loved ones from black widows and rattlesnakes like this guy. It isn’t about revenge or punishment, it’s about protecting innocents from poisonous bugs and snakes.

Yep. I hope somebody does it to this guy soon. Did you see where his bail was only $3,000, meaning (unless I'm mistaken, which I might be) he only has to raise $300 to get out?

Another BIG advantage to sticks is that if the battery goes dead or the starter craps out (I have experienced both many times over the years, especially in my wild and ragged yute!), you can always push or coast 'em and pop the clutch, even in reverse, to get the engine going. As long as you have gas and a downhill slope or a push, you're good for go, no jumper cables, tow trucks, or mechanics required! {^)
