Finally had to water this week, and deep irrigate the potatoes.
Cherries are almost ripe; raspberries, both blackcaps & reds are fruiting; another couple of weeks we might have some ready to pick. Meanwhile, the strawberries are finished for now.
Getting salad greens, and a few of the German Giant radishes; also slowly thinning out the Egyptian onions.
I know I have mentioned how big, how fast the Cornish Cross Broilers grow, so, since I processed 2 more today (got thunerstormed out, or would have done the rest), so here's what they look like:
Yes, that is a full sized dinner plate; and is for tonight's dinner. Removed both legs & thighs; the main attraction gets stuffed and roasted. They hatched 4-9; we bought them 4-11-14, just 3 months ago.
Wow! Fast growing and large to boot. That reminds me I need to reserve some birds for October slaughter from a local farmer.
Are those egg-layers, too - or just for meat?
We're getting six Leghorns next month, just fer' eggs - but I guess when they stop laying....
