Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

My Crocks came yesterday with a catalog and the price for them in the catalog was $24.99...I got mine from a flyer for $10! They are the ones with the acupressure points on the insole. I sure wish I could feel them...Maybe if I wear them enough, I will get some feeling back. I hope.
I need to check Walmart and see what they have for a tablet, and think about putting one on lay-away next month. Lay-away isn’t available until then. I just hope this computer keeps going until then.
Yesterday, I checked at Aarons, and they have what I need and want for $88 a month...for a $400 tablet, I will pay $500 in fees and charges over the 12 months. The only way I can make it cost effective is to pay for it in 90 days. I will have to check that out.
I think it would be best to do it that way.
Yow! I didn’t think of that.
Afternoon!
Sally has cleaned the gerbil cage. I fed them every day and made sure they had water, but I don’t clean the cage. That reminds me, I need to persuade DP or Da Bill to clean the dragon cages.
Good for Sally, though I can imagine how she felt when she saw the cage hadn’t been cleaned. But that’s the responsibility aspect of having a pet of your own.
I have a hard enough time cleaning my own cage...
She probably smelled it when she walked in the room last night!
Frank and Vlad have been invited to play with a little boy up the street; his family just moved in a few weeks ago, and they ran into Frank at the playground. James is making a craft with old CDs. It’s starting to rain.
If James can make it rain by doing stuff with old CD's, you might want to lease him, at a suitably exorbitant fee of course, to one or more of those Western states. I understand that there's a drought there...
I had company for a few minutes. How odd.
It’s 105F with 11% NNE 4mph /40C 11% 6kph
The more I think of it, the more I’m leaning towards lay-away. If this one lasts, that is. If not, I will try the 90 day thingy.
Those in the know seem to like repeating the lie that Lake Mead’s low water level is caused by drought. Those of us who are informed realize it’s because CA, AZ and OR are taking water from it in record amounts.
I have seen several forms of artwork done with CDs, and all I can say is, people are so very clever!
James made a turtle.
How clever! I have older CD with computer restoration programs on them. Shall I send them, as incentive?
;o]
That’s a kind thought, but we have plenty. Bill and Tom have made dozens of music CDs and left them lying around in the car, so few of them actually play.
Ah. Then I will DONATE them! LOL!
Maybe someone will buy them at the thrift store to make crafts.
LOL,

G’Night.
I’m hoping whatever I donate is useful in some way, to some one. I never know, when I sort through my stuff, whether it will be useful to someone in similar situations to mine, or whether it will go to the homeless. Either way, my loss is someone’s gain, and I am so happy that I can make someone’s life a little better.
I don’t need to know who benefits from the four years my stuff was in storage...I just need to know that SOMEone does.
*tagline*
The idea was that the CDs would be mounted on a hemispherical or parabolic surface, using the central holes for the mounting. A judicious tightening of the screw (and washer) where it is mounted will distort it to a focusing reflection, which can then be concentrated on a cooking device.
Consider it a Dutch Oven, but solar powered. It would probably be a good idea to have some way to monitor the heat developed, or your project may have the flavor of ashes.
Obviously, you don’t go Camping In The West. That type of solar oven/cook surface will make the rounds of BSA and LDS Ward Camp Weeks...
I’m excited...
Here's what I want: A camp stove
The USB output can recharge your cell-phone.
Aw, doggies! I could do that!
