Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

I try to stay away from roadways.

I’ve seen what happens to critters that haven’t had their morning coffee yet.

It is quite amazing how animals behave towards roads.
They have all that open space each side to play in,but no, they want to play in the thin strip of countryside in which you are doing 60mph+ .
No matter how much the Horn is blasted and lights flashed they just stand there with a ‘Wut?’ expression on their faces.
Unless,,, ,perhaps they are travelling to a nearby Coffee shop and can’t understand why you would be mad at them for attempting to obtain a meer cup of Coffee. Could be.

106, about 10% and slight breeze. VERY slight. MUCH better than the last few days of lower temps but higher humidity.

It was in the 90s here. Kathleen had lots of fun at the water park. She didn’t have a nap today, so I need to get her washed before she realizes how tired she is and has a meltdown!

Ooooohhh! Wash away the excitement and watch the collapse at just the right time! I really thought about the pool down the road, but then, I decided I would reward myself when I could afford the fees. But how much fun would it be to swim in the sun???

The is the year-round pool closest to me, but until I get the truck fixed, it’s just a dream. The fuel pump came yesterday, so I will call tomorrow and see if Ellis can work on it this week.

The seasonal pool is two blocks away. I just need to get up and get going...
