Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

It’s Tuesday. I went to Weight Watchers. Now I’m back. I lost 2.4 lbs.
Later I’ll take Jake to the vet to get his stitches out.
Late Morning T-c. Late Morning Everyone!
Congratulations on the 2.4 lbs.
I thought most stitches didn’t need to be removed any more.
We had a small dog once who wouldn’t leave stitches in long enough for the vet to get them out. He finally started using chicken flavored stitches to make it nicer for her.
My son used to scream at the top of his voice (in a voice he reserved for her) MY STITCHES ITCHES!!!
Hm. I thought I checked that.
Nope, I got the morning out right on time.
Whatchoo talkingabout?
These stitches have to be removed. Once they are, and the vet says everything is fine, Jake can go outside again.
Not my fault ...
Almost lunchtime, in fact. I just got an email from the library saying they’re going to be open on Thursdays this year. The county coughed up some extra funding.
Be careful ... Sounds Nassiiii!
As opposed to not being open at all?
Howdy, well our August was cold for us most days being in the high 60’s. Snow will be here soon for us......
As opposed to being open Monday through Saturday, except Thursday.
Here comes Kathleen, singing the Pikachu Song. Jake is beating up an area rug.
High 60s would be a cooler night for us. It’s been really hot the last week or so.
Summer finally hit Gotham. It’s already 86 out there heading up to 94.
I know that’s chilly for Las Vegas, but this isn’t Vegas.
Oh, YES!
I stopped by Walmart on my way home to pick up some .97 cent window cleaner for the truck and after cleaning the passenger side of the windshield, I forgot about the cement parking bumper, tripped over it, and landed squarely on my right side, demolishing a fairly new shirt (yellow) and a pair of not so old pedal pushers (clam diggers?)
*sigh*
And I left my pills and cold stuff at Busdaddy’s, after fighting to get his security system added to. It took an hour and a half and I was stressed when I left there, so I’m not surprised I left the stuff.
The shirt is trashed, but the pants are darker blue, so I’m hoping to get most of the stains out. I’m so disgusted. And I’m glad tomorrow is payday, because I’m just not happy with things right now. My elbow, wrist and knee are still stinging with parking lot rash.
Well, here’s hoping you aren’t seriously hurt.
Guido and da boys have already been by to have a talk wit the parkin’ bumpah and it has promised it won’t be bodderin’ youze agan.
“.... singing the Pikachu Song. Jake is beating up an area rug.”
Yes, having just listened to the above on You-pipe, Jake’s actions make perfect sence. :)
Then he piddled in the pantry.
Now he is firmly restrained in the Unacceptable Feline Receptacle, and we’ll leave for the vet in about 15 minutes.
Oh, dear. What a to-do. You should lie down!
Cats are terrific pets, really.
