Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Tom has the Maths. If he’s not hired, I think it would be because they don’t have an opening at the store nearest us. He needs to work nearby so he can be dropped off if Bill is using the car for school.
Not a bite of the despised rice-and-bean casserole left. Funny how that happens when people are hungry and not offered anything else except broccoli and cauliflower.
rice and beans would sound good to me if that were the only alternative!

I think that white Boudin stuff had rice in it, but I don't eat that stuff.
At the top is lamb chops.
It’s been a long time since I had lamb chops. My kids would have those sausages gone in 4-1/2 minutes, and be back saying, “Is there anything else to eat around here? I’m starving!”
When NTI visited us, the Offspring learned they like bratwurst. Now I buy it every time it’s on markdown at Harris Teeter.

The ground is so parched it has been cracking... I bet the turtle could be lost forever if she fell into that
I think about your turtle every time “Maneater” plays on the radio.
I remember living in South Texas ...
Our 5-day forecast says 90s, and probably won’t rain. Could be worse for the Venture campout this weekend. If it’s hot, you lie around in the shade and drink plenty of water. If it rains, you’re miserable.
I’ll try to get a pic of Mrs. T next to the crack tomorrow for perspective.
I have a feeling if it rained it would have lasted 4-5 minutes lol
Fifty years ago.
Have no idea if I will have internets while there, but am taking the trusty laptop just for perchance.. ;-) Also, knowing how things work, departure time will probably be delayed due to all sorts of unforeseen thingies even though all MY stuff is packed.. Meaning, more than likely departure will be in another hour ;-)
I hate that rain that doesn’t even water the plants!
Best wishes for your visit with old people in Ohio. Drive safely!
Good Morning TC,
Have had a busy morning executing the grass, hedges ,etc.
Overcast but warm, 22C.
Off to “W*lmart” in a bit for the weeks wiz around pushing a wire cage on wheels.
Hope Tom gets that job, there is nothing like the feeling of independence given by having your own cash.
Have done shop work, dealing with the public is awful, but employers are always asking for experience....Grin and bare it for six months, then runaway!
Ohio eh?
A wild place.
Outlaws lurk in the forests,so i’ve been told.
Dragons have been seen amidst the mountain passes.....
Bill worked a low-end retail job for *exactly* six months! Tom is very big and intimidating, which is good for a quick-shop job on the highway.
I have to go to Walmart again, too. We’re out of Ziplock bags.
Quote -- "The highest point in Ohio is Campbell Hill at an elevations of 1,550 feet."
They probably didn't hide well enough.
I think P.J. O’Rourke wrote an article on skiing in Ohio. It’s not very high in altitude, but it’s very cold and snowy in the winter.
Picture the dragon on the ski slope, then strolling into the lodge for a steak and a Scotch.
I can do that.
