Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy
Anchorage Daily News ^ | comJuly 2, 2014 | SEAN DOOGAN

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

LOL! Morning, n-t-I. A sunny, warm day in these parts. The thermometer on the wall right in front of me says it’s 83 in this room. I guess I could turn the a/c on before I start eating hot vegetable soup ...

I’ll be born next week. Er - celebrating.

I’m working with DSNY now. We’re no longer allowed to pronounce that Disney, but sometimes I still do.

My missions trip to Iraq is postponed for obvious reasons. I was planning to spend some time in October in Kurdistan. Maybe next year.

Supwitchoo?

I start eating hot vegetable soup ...

Am jealous. Maw is fixing roasted terrorist that the bugs, bears, foxes, hounds and our new pet alligator didn't eat. Maw is adding vegetables though so guess shouldn't complain. It's food.

Sg ... if ArGee is ready, willing and able to box it, mail it, etc; Paw thought about the guillotine and then thought the guillotine is too humane. Paw likes for them terrorist critters to suffer unspeakable and less humane treatment. Maw simply cooks the terrorist critters (the left overs) and feeds it to Paw, Herself and Me. Guess that is where our mean streak comes from. One is what one eats.

I’m sure Kurdistan would have been extremely interesting. With what you would have spent on the travel, you can buy more guillotines.

I don’t think our Church has a program in Eastern Ukraine.

I could find out, I suppose.

The facility we were supposed to be helping in Soran is now being converted into a refugee camp, so the need is still there.

I didn’t get a guillotine for terrorists in Kurdistan.

I’m more worried about the humongous ‘rats we have here in NYC.

The soup was probably better at 83 degrees than it would have been at 66, our usual winter temperature.

Got any 7’s?

How did Tom’s interview go?

Just having lunch now. Salad with tomatoes, hard boiled egg and grated cheese. I forgot to get eggs and meat this morning.

Busdaddy said there had been a fight on his bus, but he broke it up. Good.
