Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Need one of those. I would weigh much less in (or is that on) either scale... Then I would weigh either 100 or 15.7. I think I’ll take the stoneweiight because, after all, who pays attention to the decimals... ;-)

They have already played. It was international and South Korea won, but Japan was involved in it, too. Probably a dozen teams. I would have to research it. Some of those kids were VERY good!

They beat the kids from Chicago and Philadelphia before they tackled the So Koreans, so they worked hard for the prize. I was only able to watch two of the games, though. (I liked them because I played softball in junior high...bigger ball and bat, underhand pitch.)

That's why I've been recommending the "second rock from the sun", the planet Venus, as a nice vacation spot. There, only the atmosphere wants to kill you.

And, if that doesn't bother you too much, the gravity is just enough lower than what you're used to, to make you feel bouncy and strong. What's not to love?
