Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

I gathered that. Some people are just “scatter-brained” and end up having lots of minor accidents.
The only accidents I’ve been in have been when I wasn’t driving. It took me a long time to get over being a nervous passenger after the accident that nearly killed me.
I would prefer you as a driver with 10 screaming kids on a 500 mile trip than Elen on a short trip down to the local quik-mart.
Elen will manage a drive to the Walmart on her own eventually!
I had my at-fault accidents before I was out of my teens, both parking lot events. My parents made me pay 50% of the repairs in the first one, and 100% in the second. I learned to focus when I was in a parking lot!
My other accidents, the one in Norman and the one here, were both because the other driver broke the law (and did something dumb). No serious injury, fortunately.
Please, don’t make me go with Elen on her successful trip to Walmart! My heart can’t take it! LOL!
I’ve always been a defensive driver, even when I first got my license (before Driver’s Ed.) One of my brothers is a very aggressive driver and just had a birthday on Tuesday. The other one had a birthday yesterday, but there are four years difference. The former brother had to take a Defensive Driving course and an anger management class after his last ticket! LOL!
And they originated in Searchlight...
I think Mrs. NoC's blotchycat just had a stroke...

She's 14ish..
Got any 4’s?
Speaking of the Irretrievably Dead, he is in town this weekend to show his ugly face at the opening of a new casino, the rotten POS.
Oh no. I am so sorry.
Hoping for some easing of symptoms but it doesn't realistically look good.
Poor old thing. Jake is acting like something never half bit his head off.
I’m so very sorry. It seems your family has lost so many critters lately.
*group hug*
Tristan called me upstairs to say goodbye.
Know that reaction. Whe one of our outdoor kitties showed up with a bloody tail and a ripped up inside of his left thigh, after we washed up the spots, soaked the woulds in H2O2, smeared neosporin on them (vet sez liking it won't hurt them), the idiot cat wanted back outside. The same night.
We kept him inside until the wounds closed up. He didn't like that.
We suspicion that he actually managed to get himself tangled up in some of the old barbed wire that is all over the north forty and tore himself up in the struggle to free himself. Typically a bite will tend to infect and require something more powerful than topical neosporin be given internally or im, since bites are particularly septic. This wound didn't get obviously infected, healed up rather quickly, and kittybrat was back outdoors.
Now we are doing the 'observing' part with the blotchy one..
She doesn’t seem to be wanting to say goodby yet. It’s just the confusion that she knows something ‘s wrong with her world and her humans aren’t fixing it...
There are things that are beyond the control of Galactic Overlords and their Human Minions..
This is true.
Rags is older than Tristan, she was born five minutes earlier than he was.
I don’t expect her to last much longer as none of their lineage were particularly long lived.
14 seems to be close to max for them.
We don’t have barbed wire as an issue. Something tried to kill Jake, but he doesn’t care.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stranger.
.
That might be cat logic.
I’ll be able to out-run it, providing it lets me get my coffee first.
You could also rub its belly.
