Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Jake would go back to bed with you. He does not like bananas.

Peeling and slicing bananas is not exactly my idea of a good time. I don’t do fruit leather or jerkys.

I’ll find another tag line to replace that one, soon. My tagline archive is HUGH!

My brother in law is glad he didn't park any farther up the driveway last night. A huge branch we had been trying to bring down last year finally fell on its own.

It really did a number on that fence too

Right

In the backyard there is a tree with a branch that stretches all the way across. I think it’ll fall sooner or later, hopefully at night when nobody and no dog is out there

That looks positively treacherous! Good for your BiL for heeding the “still small voice.”

The tree is on your neighbor’s property, yes?

If so, and the car had been damaged by the limb, the owner would be liable. It’s his responsibility to see that no vegetation encroaches his neighbors’ property.

Yep. Your BiL needs to contact his home insurance carrier and make sure there are pics from all angles. If it’s his fence, the neighbor has to repair it in a timely manner.

He’s responsible to repair it because it creates a hazard on your BiL’s property. Photos! It needs to be done soon.

Whole milk.
Baked apples.
No green beans.

If I just had a LIST!

I need to buy lunch boxes so I can take my meals to Busdaddy’s but that will have to wait. I spent the rest of all I had on trying to make sure I didn't go hungry the first week. I figure by the end of this week, I will have a better handle on how to structure my meals and it won't be so confusing.

My new aide came today. The company didn't bother to tell me he was coming. He is active duty Air Force and just took this job to give himself some breathing room.

At any rate, he is pretty awesome. His name is Shawn and he is conscientious, and VERY willing to do things my way. I'm his first client. I told him he was going to be spoiled...he will not get off so lightly with other folks. So he is, of course, Shawn the Conscientious! Unless I come up with a better name for him.
