Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

The ubiquitous Church Dinner, I think, although with people dancing, it couldn’t hardly be Baptist.
The lead vocalist, with the amazing 80s hairdo, is Marty Raybon, who is still a very successful recording artist, mainly in bluegrass and gospel music. I think he’s also an ordained minister in some denomination. A very fine voice, and cute dimples too.
Sure, I can always use a new recipe that makes lots!
The first Teenaged Person has emerged, and it's only 9:47 a.m. EDT.
LOL! It may take that to get Tom up.
Mexican Pasta Salad
1# elbow macaroni, cooked to al dente, drained and rinsed
2 ears fresh corn
1 can (15oz) black or kidney beans
1/2 c coarsely chopped black olives
6 Roma tomatoes, chopped
3 green onions, sliced thin
1/2 red onion, finely diced
chopped cilantro
For the Dressing
1 C Jarred Salsa, spicy
1 C sour cream
1/4 cup mayo
1 clove garlic, grated, minced or pressed
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
2 limes, juiced
S&P to taste
Grill the corn on a grill pan, or just place in a hot skillet to brown some of the kernels. Remove from pan and allow to cool slightly, then cut the kernels off the cobs.
Combine all the dressing ingredients in separate bowl and stir until combined.
Mix all salad ingredients, except for cilantro, in a large bowl, and pour 3/4 of the dressing over the top. Gently toss until all the ingredients are coated. Add the final 1/4 of the dressing if the salad seems dry. Cover and allow to chill for two hours.
Garnish with cilantro, lime wedge or whatever else looks good!
Enjoy!
Thanks! Similar to a rice-and-bean casserole I make, only with noodles instead of rice.
And cold instead of hot!
Last night I had a sinus headache for the first time in years. I had forgotten how painful the darn things were. GAH!
It might be a good idea if I got dressed and got something done, but I don’t know why. There is always tomorrow!

That would have been a great trip if the boat hadn’t sunk and took all the firearms. That’s me taking a drink.
Those boating accidents are the worst.
I just got a text from Busdaddy that his neighbor informed him that a car with two men in it parked in front of Busdaddy’s house last night, and made gestures towards it. Now Busdaddy is TRULY paranoid.
I know what’s coming...he will want me to house-sit. But the only things worth taking are an immense TV in the living room and a smaller TV in the bedroom attached to the wall. The only other thing is his desktop all-in-one.
Face ... anybody get a tag # or vehicle description?
I don’t know. He was too upset to tell me, but he said he told the neighbor to get those very things if he saw something like that again.
may there be something to go on soon ... prayers Face.
Thanks. We need them.
and we need each other ... May the People of God’s planet know each other and know what must be culled. Then may God gives each of us the strength.
Oh, dear. I don’t blame him.
I will go over a little later this afternoon, and stay until he gets the security system set up. It will be there on Tuesday.
Tomorrow, he picks up the handgun Abrams Scout sent him, so he is feeling a little less out of control. It has really rattled him to feel so victimized.
Of course, I want to help, but I just really can’t split myself between two homes. He will have to understand this at some point, and make a decision. It would benefit us both financially. Not to mention that it will help him to rest easy about leaving stuff home.
He just left here and is going to Harbor Freight to pick up a safe. He is worried about every little thing, these days. Can’t say I blame him, though. It took me a long time after my break-ins to get to where I wasn’t apprehensive about opening the door. There are occasions when I still anticipate the worst, but they are fewer and farther between, now.
But my memory from those days is a bit hazy...
At least not in the '80s. In the South...
Nowadays, who knows... ;-)
