Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy
Anchorage Daily News ^ | comJuly 2, 2014 | SEAN DOOGAN

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

We’ve got that. I just called CO and gave Abrams Scout the info, and I’m waiting to hear what happens next.

Thanks!

I had a similar problem a few years back. FFL dealers a leery of sending (fax form)their lic numbers to out of state dealers who may or may not be legit. No body wants to go first. Took a few phone calls and prelim letterhead faxes that could be checked before shipping.

Thanks!

I forwarded the info to Abrams Scout, in the hopes that he is able to find a solution.

Makes zero sense. There WILL be an FFL willing to ship to an out of state FFL out there, for cash of course.

That has been discussed, but at the moment, it isn’t plausible. Various forces are at work here, but none of them are conducive to bringing a handgun to his dad.

I gave Abrams Scout the info for a local gun shop, hoping between the two, they can work out a way to get the handgun here.

Busdaddy and I were in the gun shop last week, and the guy seemed to be very open and honest. I don’t know where it is going from here, but I’m hoping the shop will accept the handgun when it comes. If it comes...

What a SNAFU!

I thought you only needed to ship it TO an FFL, that you don’t need one on your end. Might want to search for an FFL in Nv and see if they’ll take a certified/insured package and run the NICS check there.

“-Yes, as a non-licensee you can ship a pistol out of state, but ONLY to a licensed dealer. The BATFE states, “In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.”
“A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.” -BATFE
-And as an added bonus, “A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm.” -BATFE”

"So tell me something enegertic so I can cheer up!"

Not sure about "enegertic" until I check with Darks. But you might be cheered to know I'm writing a sequel to Timmy's misadventures. May even go to a third short book in the series.

So the gamut would be, "Ethereal", to be followed by "Transcendence", currently finishing up, and then "Divinity".

Stupid dog should have stuck with the kid. (Just kidding. No dogs were involved in this version of Timmy.)

Sorry, no energy to contribute. Tom and his friends just left to take their D&D game to Will’s house, where apparently nobody lives. They’ll bring him home eventually.

Bill says the purple car has the service light on (which is does, I saw it yesterday when Elen was driving) and is making a strange noise and shuts off unexpectedly.

Two things the average lubber can check. Both involve fluids.

Make sure the oil level is right. Many “service” lights are reminders about an oil change, as distinguished from the “check engine” light.

The other is the coolant level. A car with insufficient coolant volume has to really struggle, and it overheats quickly, and shuts off. Later, it may run again, but this is really bad for an engine.

Never, never, never, by the way, open a radiator cap until the engine is cold.

It always has a “Check Coolant” light on, but I’ll have him do those things before it gets dark.

DP and Bill say it needed coolant, but they’re going to take it to the shop tomorrow, anyway.

This is a can of worms. As a collector, one would have thought that Abrams Scout would know ALL gun laws, at least well enough to ship one.

Thanks for the input. I hope it’s cleared up soon, as I’m OD’d on this stuff.

That’s what he did the first time. Now that Abrams Scouts kids are back in school, he can’t get away long enough to make the trip.

I’m not feeling very well this morning. I may go back and lie down for a bit. In fact, I thinks that’s what I’ll do.

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. I’ve been to the gym, and soon I’ll leave for church with a batch of kids. Then we’ll do other stuff.

Hopefully I’ll remember to eat. When I go to long without eating, my filters slip and I start being honest (even without wine!).

I had a breathing treatment, some nitro, a hit on the inhaler and a shower, and I feel a little better, but don’t think I can lick my weight in wild cats.

Next on the docket is getting my pills ready, and then wait for Busdaddy to show up so we can go look at a house.

Hmm. That explains a lot, actually.
