Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Yup.
He’d had an upswing in his health, then a crash.
Uh oh.
I’m at Busdaddy’s with my laundry, at his computer, and getting ready to have a breathing treatment. He spilled some additive for the TOWDOG last week, and the house still reeks of it.
I came in and lights were on in the living room, kitchen and bedroom, and the stereo was on. I know EXACTLY how he feels. Now, I’m getting nervous about my own place, and though I don’t have much, I want to keep it. I don’t have renter’s insurance at the moment, so all the more reason to dread...
And then I think, “What you dwell on, you attract.” That’s exactly what happened with Busdaddy. He had three dreams of things being stolen, and they disturbed him enough that it actually happened. Poor guy.
He was somewhat taken by my niece’s dog, and though he doesn’t want to crate her while he is at work, he doesn’t want her to have access to the furniture while he’s gone, either. So I told him of your baby gates...one to keep Ash from eating the cats’ food and one to keep Frank from eating Ash’s food! That seems to have made a large difference in his determination to get a dog.
So we shall see. Now I will need to research baby gates and see where to find ones that extend to six feet.
That happens with people, too. You see them looking poorly and a couple of weeks later, they seem to get their color back and begin to look healthy, and a week or two later, they have gone Walkabout to the Rainbow Bridge.
Perhaps Tristan is playing with NiMH.
You can probably find a full array of baby gates at the Walmart website. Or try “Babies R Us” or “SafetyFirst.” The latter is a catalog company.
Thanks Face. Will do more research for have questions regarding company’s shipping procedures via interstate.
Have it on good authority Jake is hiding from a female.
Well, he doesn’t like Kathleen much. She pulls his ears and yells, “Jakey! Jakey! Mao!”
LOL ... poor Jake! And my thought was it was Jake’s girlfriend pulling his ears. Had no idea Kathleen was an ear puller.
T-c tell Kathleen she is in great company by pulling ears. Thomas Edison is the best example of what can take place when ears are pulled or an ear is pulled. The ear puller did it!
Kathleen has a variety of mechanisms for controlling all males in her vicinity. Cuteness doesn’t work on Jake.
Mork?!?
nanu nanu?
Mao.
I’m going to offer Jake a quarter of a dollar. Used to work well about forty years ago for bribes on children. If Jake takes the quarter will know Jake is one of us.
oops ... that was nearly sixty years ago.
I’ve been busy looking for a place for Busdaddy to rent. I’ve found a nice one, with an RV gate, a two car garage, and a large back yard. I don’t recall if there is a shed there, but the house is perfect for what he needs and the price is doable.
If he expects me to look for a place he needs to not be picky. Otherwise, he can look for it himself.
But yes, I will check with Walmart about a baby gate. That is a good idea! You are SUCH a mom!
;o]
No DAC needed....
Well, duh! I say that sort of thing to my family members all the time. "If you want me to (x), you'll take what you get. Otherwise, do it yourself!"
Elen is finishing up her end-of-year test, which is the same as last year's. The vendor sends the same test for 9th and 10th grade. Maybe it will improve her score! Pat has been graphing and stuff. James and Vlad did some multiplication facts.
Frank would take a quarter.
