Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy
Anchorage Daily News ^ | comJuly 2, 2014 | SEAN DOOGAN

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

"I don’t think Bob wants to be President."

I am a poet, a philosopher, and a curmudgeon. Why would I want to accept a degradation of such status?

President? As currently configured, that office requires no more personal abilities or capabilities than does being a Muppet.

It would be more fun to be the Swedish Chef.

I’m going to start my laundry.

Howya! Supposed to be 95 here by late afternoon, might storm.

Patrick is home from camp and I’ve started his laundry. With luck, I can get his batch done before Tom gets here with another three or four loads.

might storm.

Only thing on the radar close to you is over DelMarVa and heading out to sea...

I looked because my mabeAccurateWeather app on my smortphome said 'rain starts in 16 minutes'... All I can say is, if it does it's invisorain since the closest thing heading my way on the radar is over Lake Erie right now.

Since I'm in the middle of a brake job on Mrs. NoC's gold plated Volkswagen product, rain would severely, um, dampen the prospects of completion today... ;-)

Tom, that dutiful son, arrived home and greeted me with the respectful salutation, “Wow, you’re really short!” “Yeah, and your hair is awful!”

I’m not really that short.

Turn him green? That would be even scarier than his present shade of puce.

Green, short, terrorized by cows in the pasture.
That sort of thing.
