A WOMAN has been arrested after burning down part of her home in an attempt to kill a spider, police say.
Ginny Griffith, 34, used a cigarette lighter to set fire to some towels after seeing the arachnid in her bathroom.
But as the blaze spread, five fire trucks were called to her apartment in Hutchinson, Kansas, US at around 1.36am (local time) on Friday morning to put out the inferno.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within a matter of minutes.
Deputy Fire Chief Doug Hanen said in a statement that firefighters had found smoke coming from smouldering clothes just inside the doorway as they entered.
He confirmed the team had also found multiple other points where the fire may have been started.
Police said the woman confessed to lighting the towels with her cigarette lighter.
As a result of the fire, Griffith was arrested and charged with aggravated arson because she owns a shared home.
It is not know what happened to the spider.

So you think this is something only women would do? I know a full grown man a big old burly guy whose response to any spider would be —
Nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.

Little miss muffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and whey
When along came a spider who sat down beside her and said
What’s in the bowl bitch?
Sorry that’s just the way
I heard it.

Not seeing an issue here. If one less spider crawls the earth, it was worth it. Come on guy, with the exception of poisonous spiders, which generally only bite you if you bother them, spiders do God's work by killing pests.
3 Ways Spiders Help Indoors
1. Spiders eat pests. Spiders feed on common indoor pests, such as roaches, earwigs, mosquitoes, flies and clothes moths. If left alone, spiders will consume most of the insects in your home, providing effective home pest control.
2. Spiders kill other spiders. When spiders come into contact with one another, a gladiator-like competition frequently unfolds and the winner eats the loser. If your basement hosts common long-legged cellar spiders, this is why the population occasionally shifts from numerous smaller spiders to fewer, larger spiders. That long-legged cellar spider, by the way, is known to kill black widow spiders, making it a powerful ally.
3. Spiders help curtail disease spread. Spiders feast on many household pests that can transmit disease to humans mosquitoes, fleas, flies, cockroaches and a host of other disease-carrying critters.

I’m just guessing here, but it’s probably safe to say this woman is not related to the one on the earlier thread who had 100,000 pet roaches, eh?

I know from experience. You just cannot tell people who are afraid of spiders that they are necessary creatures. They don’t hear a word you say. Spider consumes their mind until they are convinced the spider is gone and not just gone away, but completely annihilated.
Arachnophobia is a bad phobias. Like the fear of snakes, it makes people run into trees. But some of the sufferers still love watching those ridiculous Syfy original spider movies.
