Amy Adams made one American soldier's flight to L.A. much nicer.

Before her plane from Detroit took off, the Oscar-nominated actress, who was booked for a first-class seat, noticed a man in uniform at the gate. She then privately asked to switch seats with the soldier, who had been ticketed for coach.

her father sang professionally in restaurants and her mother was a semi-professional bodybuilder

Well, that's different.

“If you don’t mind Miss, I would like it even more if you gave your first class seat to the guy sitting next to me in coach.”

I just read of another actor/singer/famous guy that did that. A nice gesture to the serviceman, and like the guy said “It’s no big deal, a four-hour flight in coach! Compared to what these guys go through for us!?”

A gentleman would insist that the person sitting next to Amy switch seats with the soldier.

At first, she considered ‘sharing’ her First Class Seat with the Soldier, where she would proudly sit on his lap for the duration of the flight, but the head stewardess would not approve, saying it was ‘against code’. So she did the next best thing, and discreetly gave it to him.

And I would insist that she sit on my lap.

It appears as though there still are good young people left in this country. A ray of light in a country of doom and gloom. Thank you Amy. Like others here have said, you’re nothing but class.

Coming back from London I changed planes in Nework NJ for the 3 hour trip to Houston. Company business so I was up front. I saw an Army Captain in camo head back to coach and asked the flight attendant if I could switch seats with him. she was very happy to agree and told me she would bring my free drinks back to me. After I got settled in next to an engineer from Shell a lady behind me tapped me on my back and said, “you just traded seats with that solider didn’t you?” I told her no big deal but she insisteted on using her drink coupon to buy me one. Well she must have been traveling with the whole choir or something because pretty soon I had Sky bottles lined up all the way across my fold down tray. The Shell guy was Muslim and couldn’t help me out so I was doing my best when the first class attendant came back with a big tumbler of vodka. Good thing I had a town car waiting for me in Houston. Served 24 years myself and can rember kindnesses like that so was happy happy happy to return the vibe.

Oh, I love her. Very talented actress and no wacko political stance that I’ve seen to date.

I have never heard of her but that is very classy. Our military deserves every nice thing we can do for them. Many years ago my late husband and I were in the Atlanta airport. There were a large group of soldiers at the next gate. I went over, hugged many of them, thanked them for serving and asked if they were coming home or going back to the ME. They were going back there so I was really glad I did what I did. They were so very young.

Yeah me too. Now sharing the seat would have been a horse of a different color.

She’s high on my list as absolutely gorgeous . . . and now she’s high on my list as a good American. Can’t get any prettier than her . . . except my wife, of course.

Beautiful outside and inside. Gracious lady. I wish her much future success.

Unfortunately, this story will probably get her blacklisted.

Hmmm- a bit of a difference from back in 1966 when I was flying space-available on United Airlines and was given a cold box-lunch because “we ran out of regular meals, sir - I know you’ll understand” - glad the world has changed to the better for the troops......

Not that you didn’t deserve better, but even a seat in coach and a airline box lunch had to be the hard floor and an open door ride in a Huey and a WWII era Ration box. ;-)

If you want to check her out, rent Sunshine Cleaning. A terrific movie in which she stars, a little off the beaten path.

It did, but not many “Huey”s flew between Philly and Seattle which was the run I was making.....
